Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplant Versus Tandem High-Dose Melphalan for Front-Line Treatment of Deletion 13q14 Myeloma – An Interim Analysis of the Ger…
2009
Abstract Abstract 51 Background Allogeneic stem cell transplantation (allo SCT), a treatment modality based on transfer of immunocompetent donor lymphocytes offers curative potential to subjects with a variety of hematological cancers. In multiple myeloma (MM), high-dose melphalan followed by autologous stem cell transplantation (auto SCT) is adopted as a standard of care. However, it remains palliative since virtually all patients (pts) relapse and renders allo SCT an option of interest. Deletion of chromosome 13q14 (13q-) in MM has been shown to negatively impact prognosis. Therefore, improvement of therapy for 13q- pts is highly desirable. Patients and methods A prospective two-arm multi…
Selective Stepwise Suzuki Cross-Coupling Reaction for the Modelling of Photosynthetic Donor−Acceptor Systems
2009
A Suzuki reaction performed as a selective stepwise substitution of two boryl groups on a diarylporphyrin precursor is reported for straightforward construction of a porphyrin trimer, modeling photosynthetic donor-acceptor systems.
Tackling Performance Challenges in Organic Photovoltaics: An Overview about Compatibilizers
2020
Organic Photovoltaics (OPVs) based on Bulk Heterojunction (BHJ) blends are a mature technology. Having started their intensive development two decades ago, their low cost, processability and flexibility rapidly funneled the interest of the scientific community, searching for new solutions to expand solar photovoltaics market and promote sustainable development. However, their robust implementation is hampered by some issues, concerning the choice of the donor/acceptor materials, the device thermal/photo-stability, and, last but not least, their morphology. Indeed, the morphological profile of BHJs has a strong impact over charge generation, collection, and recombination processes; control o…
Zvaguļu (Rhinanthus) izmantošana zālāju ekoloģiskajā atjaunošanā auglīgās augsnēs: sēklu kvalitātes un konkurences nozīme
2022
Effect of transition metals and homogeneous hydrogen producers in the hydrothermal liquefaction of sewage sludge
2022
Hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) of sewage sludge (SS) was performed in the presence of metallic Zn, Fe and Ni to investigate their effect on the performances of the process in terms of product yields and quality. Experiments were performed in subcritical water at 350 ◦C for 10 min using each metal individually and in the presence of homogenous hydrogen producers like formic acid (FA) and KOH. Interesting results were obtained with Zn that when used alone or in the presence of KOH, increased the cumulative biocrude (BC) yields and resulted in energy recoveries (ER) higher than 100% with respect to initial energy content of the biomass, thus indicating that HTL of SS is globally endothermic. …
Science to Practice: Should Biopsy Be Performed in Potential Liver Donors When Unenhanced CT Shows an Unacceptable Degree of Steatosis for Transplant…
2006
Park et al (1) have demonstrated that unenhanced CT can accurately depict moderate to severe (ie, ≥30%) macrovesicular steatosis, thereby allowing avoidance of biopsy in potential living liver donors who have an unacceptable degree of steatosis for transplantation. Biopsy will still be needed in donors with macrovesicular steatosis of less than 30% at unenhanced CT to rule out occult chronic liver disease and more severe steatosis that is undetected at CT. © RSNA, 2006.

Metilazione del DNA in artrite reumatoide
2005
Large Quadratic Hyperpolarizabilities with Donor–Acceptor Polyenes Exhibiting Optimum Bond Length Alternation: Correlation Between Structure and Hype…
1997
Donor-acceptor polyenes of various lengths, and that combine aro- matic electron-donating moieties with powerful heterocyclic electron-withdraw- ing terminal groups, have been synthe- sized and characterized as efficient non- linear optical (NLO) chromophores. Their linear and nonlinear optical proper- ties have been investigated, and variations in these properties have been related to ground-state polarization (dipole p) and structure. In particular, unprecedented quadratic hyperpolarizabilities (p) have been achieved (up to p(0) =I500 x 10-30esu) by reduction of the bond- length alternation (BLA) in the polyenic chain. In each series of homologous com-
Impact of hydroxy and octyloxy substituents of phenothiazine based dyes on the photovoltaic performance
2013
Two novel organic dyes containing hydroxy and octyloxy substituents onto a phenothiazine skeleton were synthesized and their effects on the photovoltaic performance were studied. Hydroxy acts as an ancillary anchoring unit along with the carboxylic group, while the phenothiazine modified moiety acts as an electron donor. The photophysical and electrochemical studies revealed that maximum absorbance of the dye with the hydroxy group in the solution was blue shifted and its band gap increased, indicating that donor acceptor strength was reduced as compared to the octyloxy substituted dye. Furthermore, electron lifetime of the organic dye with the hydroxy moiety was shorter due to smaller resi…
