Fluorometric determination of diphenhydramine by flow-injection analysis

A sensitive, rapid and simple flow injection procedure for the determination of diphenhydramine has been designed based on a fluorometric approach. An aqueous solution of diphenhydramine is injected into a carrierreagent stream containing Ce(IV) in dilute sulphuric acid and the fluorescence intensity of the Ce(III) produced is monitored. Chemical, FIA and instrumental variables were optimized. Analytical features of the method are: linear range 0.2–2 ppm, precision 0.7%, sample throughput 80/h. Direct determination of calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium in water by flow injection flame atomic spectroscopy, using a dilution chamber

A simple procedure to carry out the direct analysis of calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium in water by flow injection analysis (FIA) using flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) or flame photometry (FP) has been developed, using a well stirred dilution chamber to extend the calibration range, and both a double injector and the merging zone technique to add a lanthanum solution to samples and standards. The results obtained in the analysis of real samples agree with those found by a batch flame atomic procedure. Determination of insolubles in diesel lubricating oil by FIA-visible spectrometry

Insolubles determination is one of the parameters usually recommended to evaluate the residual life of oil because their presence at elevated levels in diesel lubricating oil changes the viscosity, prematurely clogs filters and is one of the major factors in causing abrasive engine wear. The proposed method employs visible spectrophotometric detection in association with flow injection analysis. The results obtained by this method were compared with the ones obtained by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FT-IR) since this is the most employed method for insolubles determination. FTIR approaches for diuron determination in commercial pesticide formulations.

Two strategies have been developed for Diuron determination by FTIR spectrometry, an off-line extraction and stopped-flow determination and a fully mechanized procedure, based on the on-line extraction of Diuron and FIA-FTIR measurement of the extracts. The aforementioned procedures have been compared with a reference chromatographic method. The off-line FTIR spectra were obtained at a nominal resolution of 4 cm(-1) from 4000 to 900 cm(-1) by accumulating 25 scans. Diuron was determined using peak height measurements at 1582 cm(-1) corrected using a baseline defined between 1562 and 1614 cm(-1). Determination of levamisole hydrochloride with HgI(2-)4 by a turbidimetric method and flow-injection analysis.

Abstract This paper is concerned with the use of ion-association compounds in the analysis of pharmaceutical samples by FIA. The usual extraction into an organic phase is avoided by using turbidimetric detection. Determination of levamisole with HgI2−4 has been developed as a practical example: the experimental variables were optimized by the modified simplex method. The calibration graph is linear over the levamisole concentration range 7–32 μ g ml . The reproducibility (rsd) and injection sample rate are 0.9% and 80/hr, respectively.

Simultaneous enzymatic determination of l(−) malic acid and l(+) lactic acid in wine by flow injection analysis

Abstract A simultaneous determination of two organic acid species in wine by a flow injection analysis method using enzyme-immobilized open tubular reactors is described. The design of the optimal geometry of the FIA system is especially important to avoid the matrix fluorescence. Reproducible results were obtained in the determination of l (−) malic acid and l (+) lactic acid using l -MDH and l -LDH, respectively. On the use of mixing reactors in flow injection analysis with thermal lens calorimetric detection

Abstract In flow injection analysis with thermal lens calorimetric detection, mixing of reagent streams of different composition before the detection cell produces a large background noise. The noise is due to the heterogeneity of the mixture which produces refractive changes in the probe beam direction. Procedures to measure the homogeneity of the mixture of solutions are derived, and used to evaluate and improve the mixing efficiencies of packed bead reactors. Using well-designed reactors, the mixing noise can be reduced below the noise levels due to other sources.
