Demonstration of endogenous lectins in synovial tissue.
1991
We have recently shown that synoviocytes and extracellular matrices exhibit distinct patterns of carbohydrate expression. Their biological relevance is however not known. The purpose of the present study was to find out whether human synovial tissue would also show a specific receptor pattern for complex sugar molecules. Endogenous lectins were displayed by means of biotinylated neoglycoproteins and sulfated polysaccharides in paraffin-embedded material or cryosections. In addition to certain carbohydrate components that are known to be constituents of the carbohydrate part of cellular glycoconjugates, our panel included heparin and fucoidan, a sulfated fucose. Binding sites were shown usin…
Synthesis and evaluation of a glibenclamide glucose-conjugate: a potential new lead compound for substituted glibenclamide derivatives as islet imagi…
2007
The search for novel SUR1-ligands originates from the idea to influence the in vivo behaviour by adding new structural moieties to the glibenclamide structure while preserving its binding affinity. Important application of novel conjugates might be their use as radioactively labelled tracer probes in the non-invasive investigation of the islet mass. It is known that the imaging quality of a tracer could be improved by increasing its hydrophilicity, which leads to a reduced plasma protein binding and diminished the unspecific uptake by various organs. In this study the glucose molecule was chosen as a substitute of glibenclamide to enhance hydrophilicity. As expected glucose conjugation lead…
Ionic liquids as precatalysts in the highly stereoselective conjugate addition of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes to chalcones.
2014
Imidazolium-based ionic liquids (ILs) serve both as recyclable reaction media and as precatalysts for the N-heterocyclic carbene-catalyzed conjugate addition of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes to chalcones. The reaction produces a broad scope of 1,6-ketoesters incorporating an anti-diphenyl moiety in high yields and with high stereoselectivity. In recycling experiments, the IL can be reused up to five times with retained reactivity and selectivity. Moreover, the 1,6-ketoesters form self-assembled organogels in aliphatic hydrocarbons. The reaction protocol is robust, easily operated, scalable and highly functionalized compounds can be obtained from inexpensive and readily accessible starting mater…
Conjugate Gradient Method for Brain Magnetic Resonance Images Segmentation
2018
Part 8: Pattern Recognition and Image Processing; International audience; Image segmentation is the process of partitioning the image into regions of interest in order to provide a meaningful representation of information. Nowadays, segmentation has become a necessity in many practical medical imaging methods as locating tumors and diseases. Hidden Markov Random Field model is one of several techniques used in image segmentation. It provides an elegant way to model the segmentation process. This modeling leads to the minimization of an objective function. Conjugate Gradient algorithm (CG) is one of the best known optimization techniques. This paper proposes the use of the nonlinear Conjugat…
The catalytic properties of DNA G-quadruplexes rely on their structural integrity
2021
International audience; The influence of the G-quartet structural integrity on the catalytic activity of the G-quadruplex (G4) was investigated by comparing the G4-DNAzyme performances of a series of G4s with a G-vacancy site and a G-triplex (G-tri). The results presented herein not only confirm that the structural integrity of the 3’-end G-quartet is necessary for G4s to be catalytically competent but also show how to remediate G-vacancy-mediated catalytic activity losses via the addition of guanine surrogates in an approach referred to as G-vacancy complementation strategy that is applicable to parallel G4s only. Furthermore, this study demonstrates that the terminal G-quartet could act a…
A novel hardware accelerator for the HEVC intra prediction
2015
International audience; A novel hardware accelerator for the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) intra prediction is presented in this paper in order to reduce the computation complexity within this standard and to accelerate the concerned calculations. We propose a new pipelined structure that we called Processing Element (PE) to execute all angular modes, and we repeat it in five paths that our architecture composed of. We present also another structure to carry out the Planar mode. This architecture supports all intra prediction modes for all prediction unit sizes. The synthesis results show that our design can run at 213 MHz for Xilinx Virtex 6 and is capable to process real time 120 10…
Fully pipelined real time hardware solution for High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) intra prediction
2016
International audience; A fully pipelined hardware accelerator for the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) intra prediction is presented in this paper in order to reduce the computation complexity coming with this module and to accelerate the concerned calculations. Two reconfigurable structures are developed in this paper, the first one concerns angular modes and is identified as Processing Element for Angular (PEA) modes, the other is made in order to handle with the Planar mode and is identified as Processing Element for the Planar (PEP) mode. Each structure is repeated in five paths, that our architecture composed of, working in parallel way. This architecture supports all intra predict…
Toward Mechanistic Design of Surrogate Buffers for Dissolution Testing of pH-Dependent Drug Delivery Systems
2020
The in vivo dissolution of enteric-coated (EC) products is often overestimated by compendial in vitro dissolution experiments. It is of great interest to mimic the in vivo conditions as closely as possible in vitro in order to predict the in vivo behavior of EC dosage forms. The reason behind this is the overly high buffering capacity of the common compendial buffers compared to the intestinal bicarbonate buffer. However, a bicarbonate-based buffer is technically difficult to handle due to the need for continuous sparging of the media with CO2 to maintain the desired buffer pH. Therefore, bicarbonate buffers are not commonly used in routine practice and a non-volatile alternative is of inte…
Direct chemical grafted curcumin on halloysite nanotubes as dual-responsive prodrug for pharmacological applications
2016
Covalently functionalized halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) were successfully employed as dual-responsive nanocarriers for curcumin (Cur). Particularly, we synthesized HNT-Cur prodrug with a controlled curcumin release on dependence of both intracellular glutathione (GSH) and pH conditions. In order to obtain HNT-Cur produgs, halloysite was firstly functionalized with cysteamine through disulphide linkage. Afterwards, curcumin molecules were chemically conjugated to the amino end groups of halloysite via Schiff's base formation. The successful functionalization of halloysite was proved by thermogravimetric analysis, FT-IR spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering and scanning electron microscopy. Ex…
A readout unit for high rate applications
2002
The LHCb readout unit (RU) is a custom entry stage to the readout network of a data-acquisition or trigger system. It performs subevent building from multiple link inputs toward a readout network via a PCI network interface or alternatively toward a high-speed link, via an S-link interface. Incoming event fragments are derandomized, buffered and assembled into single subevents. This process is based on a low-overhead framing convention and matching of equal event numbers. Programmable logic is used both in the input and output stages of the RU module, which may be configured either as a data-link multiplexer or as entry stage to a readout or trigger network. All FPGAs are interconnected via…
