The benzoxazol-2-yl substituent is easily introduced by oxidative coupling or nucleophilic substitution and can be removed by hydroxide or by hydride reduction.
Synthese und biochemische Eigenschaften substituierter Phenoxy- und Anilino-1,3,5-triazine
1983
A new method for the regioselective synthesis of β-enamino acid derivatives
1993
Abstract A mild, simple and efficient route to β-enamino imidazole carbonilic derivatives 3 by reaction of ketimines with N,N′ -carbonyl diimidazole in the presence of boron triflouride as catalyst has been developed. The conversion of 3 to esters has also been explored.
Cyclam-strapped porphyrins and their iron(III)-copper(II) complexes as models for the resting state of cytochrome c oxidase
1999
International audience; The ESR study of two cyclam-strapped porphyrins in which, on one side, the cyclam is attached with a variable length linker to the porphyrin and, on the other side, a non-coordinating strap protects the iron from any intermolecular interaction, is reported. Variation of the linker length is made possible by the use of either a Michael reaction or a nucleophilic substitution, leading respectively to three or two carbon atom links. It is shown that in the case of the shortest link, the oxidized ironÈcopper complex exhibits a spin interaction. The distance between thetwo metal centers is evaluated to be around 4.5 Å, a value consistent with the one found in the natural …

meso-Aryl-substituted free-base porphyrins: formation, structure and photostability of diprotonated species
2015
Susceptibility to interact with trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) of selected free-base porphyrins, including a novel lipophilic 3-n-pentadecyl(phenoxy)-ethoxy-phenyl-substituted porphyrin, and photostability of their diprotonated compounds was explored in benzene and N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF). Results have been discussed in terms of the commonly applied pK a -based procedure and confronted with a simple approach derived from experimentally-determined correlations reflecting the porphyrins affinity for TFA. Density functional theory (DFT) has proved the porphyrin moiety creates stable diprotonated species involving two TFA molecules, in which the fluorine atoms effectively contribute to the over…
Methionine in a protein hydrophobic core drives tight interactions required for assembly of spider silk
2019
Web spiders connect silk proteins, so-called spidroins, into fibers of extraordinary toughness. The spidroin N-terminal domain (NTD) plays a pivotal role in this process: it polymerizes spidroins through a complex mechanism of dimerization. Here we analyze sequences of spidroin NTDs and find an unusually high content of the amino acid methionine. We simultaneously mutate all methionines present in the hydrophobic core of a spidroin NTD from a nursery web spider’s dragline silk to leucine. The mutated NTD is strongly stabilized and folds at the theoretical speed limit. The structure of the mutant is preserved, yet its ability to dimerize is substantially impaired. We find that side chains of…
Crystal structures of (E)-3-(4-hydroxybenzylidene)chroman-4-one and (E)-3-(3-hydroxybenzylidene)-2-phenylchroman-4-one
2019
The synthesis and crystal structures of (E)-3-(4-hydroxybenzylidene)chroman-4-one, C16H12O3, I, and (E)-3-(3-hydroxybenzylidene)-2-phenylchroman-4-one, C22H16O3, II, are reported. These compounds are of interest with respect to biological activity. Both structures display intermolecular C—H...O and O—H...O hydrogen bonding, forming layers in the crystal lattice. The crystal structure of compound I is consolidated by π–π interactions. The lipophilicity (logP) was determined as it is one of the parameters qualifying compounds as potential drugs. The logP value for compound I is associated with a larger contribution of C...H interaction in the Hirshfeld surface.
Non-linear optical, electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical properties of amphiphilic inner salt porphyrinic systems
2016
Three zwitterionic meso-substituted A3B- and AB2C-porphyrins containing one sulfonato alkylpyridinium substituent and three or two alkoxy-substituted phenyl groups were synthesized in good yield and fully characterized as to their physicochemical properties by a variety of techniques. This new series of inner salt donor-acceptor meso-substituted porphyrin derivatives were prepared for possible application as amphiphilic probes for membrane insertion in the area of combined second-harmonic and two-photon fluorescence cellular microscopy. To this end, the linear and nonlinear optical properties of the compounds were characterized, together with their electrochemical and spectroelectrochemica…
