The aim of adaptive HTTP streaming technology is preserving the best possible video streaming quality for viewers in heterogeneous network conditions. This can be achieved by making multiple quality versions of the video available. Switching between versions during playback should be imperceptible and fluent. The present work describes the synthesis and crystal structure of the new B-phenyloxazaborocine, C26H23BN2O2. The title compound adopts a zwitterionic form with a significant intramolecular N→B dative bond and intermolecular C—H⋯O interactions connecting molecules parallel to the b axis.

Two out of the three very similar complexes described present twofold symmetry but not the third one, probably by way of a strong intramolecular C—H⋯O hydrogen bond disrupting the symmetry, a fact which is analysed in detail.
