Hilbert Space Embeddings for Gelfand–Shilov and Pilipović Spaces
2017
We consider quasi-Banach spaces that lie between a Gelfand–Shilov space, or more generally, Pilipovi´c space, \(\mathcal{H}\), and its dual, \(\mathcal{H}^\prime\) . We prove that for such quasi-Banach space \(\mathcal{B}\), there are convenient Hilbert spaces, \(\mathcal{H}_{k}, k=1,2\), with normalized Hermite functions as orthonormal bases and such that \(\mathcal{B}\) lies between \(\mathcal{H}_1\; \mathrm{and}\;\mathcal{H}_2\), and the latter spaces lie between \(\mathcal{H}\; \mathrm{and}\;\mathcal{H}^\prime\).
A Criterion for Attaining the Welch Bounds with Applications for Mutually Unbiased Bases
2008
The paper gives a short introduction to mutually unbiased bases and the Welch bounds and demonstrates that the latter is a good technical tool to explore the former. In particular, a criterion for a system of vectors to satisfy the Welch bounds with equality is given and applied for the case of MUBs. This yields a necessary and sufficient condition on a set of orthonormal bases to form a complete system of MUBs. This condition takes an especially elegant form in the case of homogeneous systems of MUBs. We express some known constructions of MUBs in this form. Also it is shown how recently obtained results binding MUBs and some combinatorial structures (such as perfect nonlinear functions an…

Nonholonomic Interpolation for Kinematic Problems, Entropy and Complexity
2008
Here we present the main lines of a theory we developed in a series of previous papers, about the motion planning problem in robotics. We illustrate the theory with a few academic examples.
Geometric Algebra Rotors for Sub-symbolic Coding of Natural Language Sentences
2007
A sub-symbolic encoding methodology for natural language sentences is presented. The procedure is based on the creation of an LSA-inspired semantic space and associates rotation operators derived from Geometric Algebra to word bigrams of the sentence. The operators are subsequently applied to an orthonormal standard basis of the created semantic space according to the order in which words appear in the sentence. The final rotated basis is then coded as a vector and its orthogonal part constitutes the sub-symbolic coding of the sentence. Preliminary experimental results for a classification task, compared with the traditional LSA methodology, show the effectiveness of the approach.
Comment renforcer la règlementation sur l'indépendance des auditeurs ? Quelques leçons tirées du marché français
2010
This paper draws on the growing academic literature, over the last decade, to assess the effects of the French regulation aimed at promoting external auditor independence. For listed companies, the joint-audit requirement results in a less concentrated audit market: Big 4 auditors have a weaker market share as compared with other markets. But audit fees are not lower, however. This could be explained by (1) coordination costs between joint-auditors that outweigh the benefits of a more “open” market, and/or (2) the impossibility to switch auditor during a six-year legal engagement. Elsewhere, the a priori stronger independence associated with that specific regulation does not result in less …

Orbits of bounded bijective operators and Gabor frames
2020
This paper is a contribution to frame theory. Frames in a Hilbert space are generalizations of orthonormal bases. In particular, Gabor frames of $L^2(\mathbb{R})$, which are made of translations and modulations of one or more windows, are often used in applications. More precisely, the paper deals with a question posed in the last years by Christensen and Hasannasab about the existence of overcomplete Gabor frames, with some ordering over $\mathbb{Z}$, which are orbits of bounded operators on $L^2(\mathbb{R})$. Two classes of overcomplete Gabor frames which cannot be ordered over $\mathbb{Z}$ and represented by orbits of operators in $GL(L^2(\mathbb{R}))$ are given. Some results about opera…
