Structural and Vibrational Properties of Corundum-type In2O3 Nanocrystals under Compression

2017

[EN] This work reports the structural and vibrational properties of nanocrystals of corundum-type In2O3 (rh-In2O3) at high pressures by using angle-dispersive x-ray diffraction and Raman scattering measurements up to 30 GPa. The equation of state and the pressure dependence of the Raman-active modes of the corundum phase in nanocrystals are in good agreement with previous studies on bulk material and theoretical simulations on bulk rh-In2O3. Nanocrystalline rh-In2O3 showed stability under compression at least up to 20 GPa, unlike bulk rh-In2O3 which gradually transforms to the orthorhombic Pbca (Rh2O3-III-type) structure above 12 14 GPa. The different stability range found in nanocrystallin…

Ascorbic Acid determination using linear sweep voltammetry on flexible electrode modified with gold nanoparticles and reduced graphene oxide

2020

Indium tin oxide (ITO) coated on flexible polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate electrode was modified with reduced graphene oxide and gold nanoparticles by simple co-electrodeposition performed at -0.8 V vs SCE for 200 s. All samples were characterized by electron scan microscopy. The as prepared electrode was used as electrochemical sensor to selective detection of ascorbic acid using linear sweep voltammetry. Excellent results were obtained in a linear range from 20 to 150 µM of ascorbic acid with a limit of detection of about 3.1 µM (S/N=3.3). The sensors have a reproducibility of about 5.5% and also show high selectivity towards different interferents such as chlorine, calcium, ma…

The effects of the intense laser field on donor impurities in a cylindrical quantum dot under the electric field

2011

Abstract For different nitrogen and indium concentrations, intense laser field (ILF) effect on donor impurity binding energy in a cylindrical Ga x In 1 − x N y As 1 − y / GaAs quantum dot (QD) has been studied. Results show that ILF creates an additional confinement on the electronic and impurity states in QD and increases nitrogen and indium concentration effects on electronic states.

The Joining of LiNbO3, Quartz, TlBr-TlI and Other Optical Materials by the Use of Thin Metal Films as Bonding Agents

2000

A method of joining ferroelectric, optical and other non-metallic materials, such as lithium niobate, quartz, TlBr-TlI, glass, etc., at room temperature under a pressure of 0.1÷0.5 MPa is described. The surfaces to be joined are prepared to optical flatness, and indium or lead coatings as bonding agents are used. To obtain clean surfaces, procedures of the coating deposition and sample joining are performed in situ in a vacuum of l0-4 Pa. The strength of the obtained joints is about 20MPa for indium coatings and about 30MPa for lead coatings. It is supposed that attractive surface forces play a decisive role in the contact formation and bonding of the wafers. The method has been applied for…

Pressure dependence of the refractive index in wurtzite and rocksalt indium nitride

2014

We have performed high-pressure Fourier transform infrared reflectance measurements on a freestanding InN thin film to determine the refractive index of wurtzite InN and its high-pressure rocksalt phase as a function of hydrostatic pressure. From a fit to the experimental refractive-index curves including the effect of the high-energy optical gaps, phonons, free carriers, and the direct (fundamental) band-gap in the case of wurtzite InN, we obtain pressure coefficients for the lowfrequency (electronic) dielectric constant e1 . Negative pressure coefficients of -8.8 × 10-2 GPa-1 and -14.8 × 10-2 GPa-1 are obtained for the wurtzite and rocksalt phases, respectively. The results are discussed …

Improvement of photocatalytic and photoelectrochemical activity of ZnO/TiO2 core/shell system through additional calcination: Insight into the mechan…

2017

Abstract ZnO/TiO2 composites were prepared by sol-gel deposition of TiO2 on ZnO nanorods hydrothermally grown on electrically conductive indium tin oxide substrate (ITO). It has been shown that the ZnO/TiO2 interface plays a key role in enhancement of photodecomposition of methylene blue (MB) used as a model test pollutant, under monochromatic light irradiation (400 nm). The increase of photocatalytic activity was attributed to the shift of absorption edge of ZnO/TiO2 towards visible light in comparison with bare TiO2. Further enhancement of photocatalytic activity of ZnO/TiO2 was achieved through its additional calcination at 450 °C for 3 h. This treatment brings 40% increase in the rate o…

Structural and spectral properties of ZnO nanorods by wet chemical method for hybrid solar cells applications

2015

Abstract The synthesis of ZnO nanorods on transparent conducting oxides, Al doped ZnO seed layer on glass substrate (AZO) and indium tin oxide substrate (ITO) by using zinc nitrate hexahydrate (Zn (NO3)2·6H2O) and hexamethylenetetramine (HMT, (CH2)6N4 as raw materials is presented. The ZnO seed layer was fabricated by depositing an Al-doped ZnO thin film on glass substrate by sputtering. The effect of seeding on (AZO) and (ITO) substrate by using the wet chemical route growth of ZnO nanorods was investigated. The synthesized nanostructures of ZnO were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV–vis absorption spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and high-resolution transmission…

In-situ study of multi-phase indium nanoparticle growth on/into CuPcF4 organic thin film in ultra-high vacuum conditions

2021

Abstract We study the in-situ growth of a nanocomposite material consisting of a thin CuPcF4 film and multiphase/multidimensional indium nanoparticles, self-organizing on the surface and in the bulk, at various stages of thermal deposition of metal on an organic film under ultrahigh vacuum conditions. The analysis of high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) images provided valuable information about the evolution of morphology, size, density, and distribution of indium nanoparticles upon indium deposition. These 2D/3D ultra-small nano-objects turned out to have not only body-centered tetragonal (bct) crystal structure, typical for bulk indium, but also unusual face-centered…

Role of Nanoelectromechanical Switching in the Operation of Nanostructured Bi2Se3 Interlayers between Conductive Electrodes

2016

We demonstrate a simple low-cost method of preparation of layered devices for opto- and thermoelectric applications. The devices consist of a functional Bi2Se3 layer of randomly oriented nanoplates and flexible nanobelts enclosed between two flat indium tin oxide (ITO) electrodes. The number of functional interconnections between the ITO electrodes and correspondingly the efficiency of the device can be increased by gradual nanoelectromechanical (NEM) switching of flexible individual Bi2Se3 nanobelts in the circuit. NEM switching is achieved through applying an external voltage to the device. For the first time, we investigate in situ NEM switching and breakdown parameters of Bi2Se3 nanobel…

Parametrical study of multilayer structures for CIGS solar cells

2014

In this paper, a numerical analysis of relevant electrical parameters of multilayer structures for CIGS-based solar cells was carried out, employing the simulation software wxAMPS. In particular, we have focused on thin film cells having a ZnO:Al/ZnO/CdS/CIGS structure with a Molybdenum back contact. The aim of this work is to establish good theoretical reference values for an ongoing experimental activity, where our technology of choice is the single-step electrodeposition. In detail, we have analyzed how the main electrical properties change with the bang gap and the thickness of the absorber layer, for such a type of solar cell structure. Our results show that both efficiency and fill fa…
