Analysing innovation in museums through qualitative comparative analysis
2019
[EN] The aim of this paper is to analyse innovation in the processes undertaken by museums in the conservation and restoration of artworks. Information from 90 conservation and restoration departments from museums in 43 countries was analysed using qualitative comparative analysis. Two theoretical concepts - knowledge bases (analytical, synthetic, symbolic) and modes of innovations (Science, Technology and Innovation; Doing, Using, and Interacting) - were used to define necessary and sufficient conditions which explain innovation in artwork restoration. Two important results were obtained from the analysis. The first indicated that innovation was explained by the combination of symbolic and…
Organizational Learning to Leverage Benefits Realization Management; Evidence from a Municipal eHealth Effort
2017
Part 3: Organizational Aspects; International audience; While work with benefits realization requires organizational learning to be effective, emphasis on organizational learning is hard to find in benefits realization studies. To remedy this research gap, we study how organizational learning theory can contribute to improve benefits realization processes. A qualitative approach was used to gain in depth understanding of benefits realization in an ICT healthcare services project. We found that individual learning is present, but organizational learning has not been given explicit attention neither in the project nor in the literature of benefits realization management. Managing Knowledge in Academic Libraries Are we? Should we?
2016
This article gives an overview of the field of knowledge management and suggests how this can be applied to academic libraries. Here IFLA has identified 10 points of best practice. These 10 points will be measured against the literature in the field of knowledge management to ascertain if academic libraries would benefit from a stronger relation to knowledge management.
Relational capital in virtual teams: the role played by trust
2009
The study of social capital has emerged as a key construct in work and organizational contexts. Trust is its relational dimension and it is relevant for teams working in virtual environments. The purpose of our study is to determine whether the relationship between virtuality level (based on the characteristics of the technology used by each group) and three team-effectiveness criteria (group performance, group process satisfaction and group cohesion) is moderated by group trust climate or relational capital (i.e. trust perceptions shared by team members). A laboratory experiment was carried out with groups randomly assigned to two virtuality levels (videoconference and computer-mediated co…
Expanding possibilities: Project work using ICT
2005
www.humantechnology.jyu.fi; One of the main findings from the SITES Module 2 study internationally is the increased use of project work connected to the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in many countries around the world. The Norwegian cases presented in this article support these findings, showing that when teachers and students use ICT in school settings, it is most often part of project work. However, there is a need to analyze to a larger degree the project work using ICT. In this article, project work using ICT is analyzed firstly by studying the changes in learning environment that the technology represents or as a catalyst for physical changes in the spaces in…
