Multicomponent Synthesis of Benzothiophen-2-acetic Esters by a Palladium Iodide Catalyzed S-cyclization – Alkoxycarbonylation Sequence
2021
A catalytic carbonylative approach to the multicomponent synthesis of benzothiophene derivatives from simple building blocks [1-(2-(methylthio)phenyl)prop-2-yn-1-ols, carbon monoxide, and an alcohol)] is presented. It is based on an S-cyclization-demethylation-alkoxycarbonylation-reduction sequence promoted by the PdI2/KI catalytic system, occurring under relatively mild conditions (40 atm, 80 °C, 15 h). Benzothiophene-2-acetic esters are obtained in moderate to good yields (35–70%) starting from variously substituted substrates in combination with different alcohols as external nucleophiles (17 examples). (Figure presented.).
Studies of Nature of Uncommon Bifurcated I–I···(I–M) Metal-Involving Noncovalent Interaction in Palladium(II) and Platinum(II) Isocyanide Cocrystals
2021
Two isostructural trans-[MI2(CNXyl)2]·I2 (M = Pd or Pt; CNXyl = 2,6-dimethylphenyl isocyanide) metallopolymeric cocrystals containing uncommon bifurcated iodine···(metal–iodide) contact were obtained. In addition to classical halogen bonding, single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis revealed a rare type of metal-involved stabilizing contact in both cocrystals. The nature of the noncovalent contact was studied computationally (via DFT, electrostatic surface potential, electron localization function, quantum theory of atoms in molecules, and noncovalent interactions plot methods). Studies confirmed that the I···I halogen bond is the strongest noncovalent interaction in the systems, followed …
An insight into the synthesis of novel aryl-substituted alicyclic β-amino acid derivatives through substrate-directed palladium-catalysed regio- and …
2015
Novel aryl-substituted alicyclic β-amino acid derivatives were synthesized through substrate-determined palladium-catalysed cross-coupling of aryl iodides with five- or six-membered cycloalkene β-amino esters. The arylations were investigated with different catalysts, solvents, bases and aryl halides, and with some cyclohexene 2-aminocarboxylate isomers. The stereochemistry and the position of the ring olefinic bond of the starting 2-aminocycloalkanecarboxylate influenced the coupling reaction, and predetermined the structure of the arylated product.
ChemInform Abstract: Sequential Suzuki/Asymmetric Aldol and Suzuki/Knoevenagel Reactions under Aqueous Conditions.
2012
Here we describe for the first time a sequential Suzuki/asymmetric aldol reaction. Such sequential approach was achieved through the combined use of an ionic liquid supported palladium catalyst and the organocatalyst trans-4-(2,2-diphenylacetoxy)proline. Suzuki and asymmetric aldol reactions were performed under aqueous conditions. The use of a palladium catalyst under basic conditions allowed also the first example of sequential Suzuki/Knoevenagel reaction. Reactions were carried out under aqueous conditions and products were isolated in good to high yields and, in the case of the Suzuki/aldol reaction, with diastereoselectivities up to 91:9 and enantioselectivities up to at least 99 %.
Diphosphines of dppf-Type Incorporating Electron-Withdrawing Furyl Moieties Substantially Improve the Palladium-Catalysed Amination of Allyl Acetates
2005
Highly active Pd/diphosphine catalytic systems incorporating new, air-stable ferrocenyl-furylphosphines allow nucleophilic allylic amination at room temperature with unprecedented turnover frequencies. For instance, in the presence of 0.01 mol % catalyst the coupling of aniline to allyl acetate occurs at a TOF of more than 10,000 h - 1 ; even the addition of the less nucleophile morpholine to allyl acetate is observed with a TOF of 4250 h - 1 . The amination of the sterically demanding geranyl acetate, a monoterpene derivative of interest in the flavour industry, at low catalyst loadings demonstrates the scope of this methodology, which provides in addition noticeable advantages in terms of…

Synthesis and Reactivity of 2-Aminophenylpalladium(II) Complexes: Insertion Reactions of Oxygen and Carbon Monoxide into Carbon−Palladium Bonds—New E…
1999
Insertion of CO into 2-aminophenylpalladium complexes leads to 2-aminobenzoylpalladium derivatives. When these compounds are forced to coordinate a carbon donor and a phosphane ligand in the trans position, a C−P coupling process or an insertion of oxygen occurs (see scheme). In this case, a dinuclear palladium complex containing a bridging anthranilato ligand is isolated.

Efficient palladium catalyzed synthesis of heteroaromatic sulfoxides
2007
Abstract The present Letter describes the efficient synthesis of novel heteroaromatic sulfoxides by means of a palladium catalyzed heteroarylation of sulfenate anions. Triazolopyridine, pyridine and thiophene sulfoxides can be obtained under mild conditions and in high yield from the corresponding heteroaryl bromides.
ChemInform Abstract: Palladium-Polypyrrole Nanocomposites Pd@PPy for Direct C-H Functionalization of Pyrroles and Imidazoles with Bromoarenes.
2016
Palladium–polypyrrole nanocomposites (Pd@PPy) with unique combination of high palladium dispersion (nanoparticle size 2.4 nm) and high palladium content (35 wt%) are efficient catalysts for the selective arylation of substituted pyrroles and imidazoles with either activated or deactivated aryl bromides. The performances of the recoverable supported palladium catalyst matches the best performances of homogeneous systems based on Pd(OAc)2 at 0.5–0.2 mol%, and largely overwhelm the classical Pd/C catalyst.
