This article is about the importance of collaboration in the development of teacher professionalism, and we have asked the research question: How can group collaboration between vocational education and training (VET) students contribute to the development of their teacher professionalism? The data basis is interviews with ten VET students in practical pedagogical education for vocational teachers that we conducted in the winter of 2020. This study is an action research that was planned and implemented with 23 Ethiopian Village School teachers. The action of the four year project concentrated on developing new, student-centred teaching methods instead of traditional lecturing and rote learning in one remote school. The overall aim of the study was to follow this process and the teachers’ professional development, and to explore how the practical arrangements, such as material or cultural surroundings, constrain or enable usage of student-centred methods at the school. Why do teachers believe some practices are better than others? Why do they criticize, or even reject, certain practices whose effectiveness has (sometimes) been demonstrated by research? The articles in this dossier aim to simultaneously interrogate the practices and beliefs of teachers in 10 school systems and contrasting sociocultural contexts. While the dossier initially highlights the variation in the meanings of these two terms, it primarily interrogates change in education and the dilemmas that this raises – between acceptance of institutional instructions and professional expertise resulting from practice.

Se parte del marco teórico establecido por Marrero (1988) contextualizado en la escolaridad obligatoria. El profesorado de la Universidad de La Rioja: ¿resistente al burnout?

El cansancio emocional, la despersonalización y la falta de realización personal son los tres rasgos característicos del burnout o Síndrome de Quemarse por el Trabajo (SQT), un síndrome conceptualizado como una respuesta emocional ante el estrés laboral crónico. El objetivo principal de esta investigación fue conocer la prevalencia del SQT en la Universidad de La Rioja. Se realizó un muestreo estratificado con afijación proporcional a los departamentos de esta universidad y 138 docentes respondieron al Maslach Burnout Inventory. Cet article s’intéresse aux inquiétudes d’enseignants universitaires débutants avant leurs premiers cours, en tenant compte de leurs conceptions de l’apprentissage et de l’enseignement. Il s’appuie sur une étude empirique réalisée auprès de jeunes chargés de TD/TP de l’université de Bourgogne. Celle-ci montre que la quasi-totalité des jeunes enseignants ont des inquiétudes concernant la préparation de leurs interventions devant les étudiants. Certaines préoccupations sont largement partagées par tous. D’autres inquiétudes sont liées aux représentations des jeunes enseignants.
