HLA-DR phenotypes and blood levels of T cell subsets

1984

Blood mononuclear cell and T cell subsets values were analyzed in 53 Sicilian individuals according to HLA-DR phenotypes. The results demonstrate that DR1-positive subjects show a significant increase of blood T cell subsets whereas DR3-positive subjects show a non-significant decrease of these values. These results suggest that gene(s) associated with HLA-DR could be one of the factors which affect blood levels of T cell subsets.

Ģenētisko faktoru asociācija ar Helicobacter pylori seroloģisko prevalenci Latvijas populācijā

2015

Uptake of poly(2-hydroxypropylmethacrylamide)-coated gold nanoparticles in microvascular endothelial cells and transport across the blood-brain barri…

2020

The facile and modular functionalization of gold nanoparticles makes them versatile tools in nanomedicine, for instance, photothermal therapy, contrast agents or as model nanoparticles to probe drug-delivery mechanisms. Since endothelial cells from various locations in the body exhibit unique phenotypes we quantitatively examined the amount of different sized poly(2-hydroxypropylmethacrylamide)-coated gold nanoparticles internalized into primary human dermal endothelial cells or human brain endothelial cells (hCMEC/D3) by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES) and visualized the nanoparticles using light and electron microscopy. Poly(2-hydroxypropylmethacrylamide)…

La concepción del espacio-tiempo en la cosmología sarvāstivāda

2013

The present article focuses on the reconstruction of the cosmological models from the school of Kashmir (fourth century), as they are registered in the compendium of sarvāstivāda-vaibhāsika school, attributed to the Buddhist monk Vasubandhu and titled Abhidharmakośabhāsya. The articles identifies the different textual sources of the cosmological models and describes its general structure, based in three realms (sensible, subtle matter and immaterial). It analyzes the relevant characteristics of the concepts of Space and Time, discovering and unusual model in comparison with the contemporaries cosmologies from the Mediterranean.

Interactions between cholinergic and fibroblast growth factor receptors in brain trophism and plasticity

2014

Acetylcholine, acting on both nicotinic receptors (nAChRs) and muscarinic receptors (mAChRs), plays a role in the regulation of synaptic plasticity, being involved in the regulation of cellular processes and cognitive functions, such as learning, memory and attention. Recently, G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs), including mAChRs, have been reported to transactivate tyrosine-kinase receptors (RTK), such as epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), and initiate their intracellular signaling. In this minireview we have first analysed the RTK transactivation mechanisms, involving cholinergic receptors, and thereafter the interplay between AChR and neurotrophic factor systems built up by FGF2 a…

GyDB mobilomics: LTR retroelements and integrase-related transposons of the pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum genome

2011

[EN] The Gypsy Database concerning Mobile Genetic Elements (release 2.0) is a wiki-style project devoted to the phylogenetic classification of LTR retroelements and their viral and host gene relatives characterized from distinct organisms. Furthermore, GyDB 2.0 is concerned with studying mobile elements within genomes. Therefore, an in-progress repository was created for databases with annotations of mobile genetic elements from particular genomes. This repository is called Mobilomics and the first uploaded database contains 549 LTR retroelements and related transposases which have been annotated from the genome of the Pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum. Mobilomics is accessible from the GyDB 2.…

The role of NFkappaB inducing kinase (NIK) in the pathogenicity of EAE

2014

pathways (PTPN6, SLC3A2, VAV3, DDR1) and modulators of oxidative stress (MT1A, HMOX1, SLC30A1) were also significantly affected by the CBD treatment. The microarray results were confirmed using qPCR on selected gene targets. Immunoblotting demonstrated that CBD reduces IL-17 by decreasing STAT3 phosphorylation and increasing that of STAT5. In conclusion, our observations increase our understanding of the mechanisms of the anti-inflammatory activities of CBD.

The results of the vine varieties reconversion measures in the North-Eastern Romania / Résultats de la mesure de reconversion des cépages dans le Nor…

2016

The vine varieties reconversion measure is one of the many benefits that the Romania's integration to the European Union brings to the wine sector. This study aims to analyze the results of this measure during 2007–2015 in the Romania's North-East Region. From the Vineyard Plantation Register, the plots noble vine parcels of each department were divided into two groups: those who existed in the field in before and those converted during the period. The surface of each group was classified first, based on the color of the grapes and secondarily, based on the pair international varieties – non international varieties. The conversion affected 3 of 6 departments. In Iasi, where the proportion o…

Virolaiset ikivanhaa hallitsijakansaa: Virolaisjohtajien puheita kansallisen identiteetin muokkaamiseksi 1930-luvulla

2012

Artikkelissa tarkastellaan Viroa melko itsevaltaisesti 1930-luvulla hallinneiden Konstantin Pätsin, armeijan ylipäällikön Johan Laidonerin ja suurimman osan Pätsin ajasta pääministerin virkaa toimittaneen Kaarel Eenpalun puheiden menneisyyspolitiikkaa. Tutkitut puheet käsittelivät Viron historiaa ennen 1800-luvun puoliväliin sijoittunutta niin sanottua kansallista heräämisaikaa. Aika muinaisen vapausajan lopusta kansalliseen heräämisaikaan on nähty kansallisesti passiivisena ajanjaksona, jolloin virolaisilla ei ollut varsinaista kansallistunnetta. Valtion johtajat pyrkivät puheillaan muinaisesta vapausajasta ja 700- vuotisesta miehitysajasta muuttamaan tätä käsitystä. Artikkelissa puheista …
