1H-NMR spectroscopic studies of paramagnetic superstructured iron(III) porphyrinsThis article is dedicated to the memory of Professor Michel Momentea…

2002

The electronic properties of several superstructured iron(III) porphyrins, in which the two faces of the porphyrin are protected by two chains linked at the opposite phenyl rings, have been investigated. The paramagnetic 1H NMR spectra of three iron(III) “basket-handle” porphyrins such as FeIII[e-BHP(C12)2], FeIII[a-BHP(C12)2] and FeIII[e-BHP(C12)(ImC11)] in organic solvent have been assigned. The 1H T1 values of the signals were measured and resonance assignments made based on NOESY and COSY experiments. The electronic structure of the iron(III) is discussed on the basis of the temperature dependence of the isotropic shifts and relaxation times. The hyperfine-shifted resonances in these sp…

Glandulosides A-D, triterpene saponins from Acanthophyllum glandulosum.

2004

Four novel triterpenoid saponins, glandulosides A (1), B (2), C (3), and D (4), together with two known saponins (5 and 6) have been isolated from the roots of Acanthophyllum glandulosum. Their structures were elucidated using a combination of homo- and heteronuclear 2D NMR techniques (COSY, TOCSY, NOESY, HSQC, and HMBC) and by FABMS. The new compounds were characterized as 23-O-beta-D-galactopyranosylgypsogenic acid-28-O-beta-D-glucopyranosyl-(1-->3)-[beta-d-galactopyranosyl-(1-->6)]-beta-D-galactopyranoside (1), 3-O-beta-D-galactopyranosyl-(1-->2)-[beta-D-xylopyranosyl-(1-->3)]-beta-D-glucuronopyranosylgypsogenin-28-O-beta-D-xylopyranosyl-(1-->3)-beta-D-xylopyranosyl-(1-->4)-alpha-l-rhamn…

Organoelement derivatives of steroids: Synthesis and structural features of organosilicon, -tin and -lead derivatives of cholesterol and desoxycholic…

1987

Some organo-Main-Group-IV-element compounds of steroids of the type R3M(COL), R2Sn(COL)2 and (R3M)2(HDCA) (where R = Me or Ph; M = Si, Sn and Pb; HCOL = cholest-5-en-3β-ol; H3DCA = 3α, 12α-dihydroxy-5β-cholan-24-oic acid), have been synthesized. The structures of these compounds have been investigated by vibrational, mass, NMR (1H, 13C, 29Si, 119Sn and 207Pb) and 119Sn Mossbauer spectroscopy. For Me3Sn(COL) both in solution and in the solid state an associated structure with distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometry around tin and three-coordinated oxygen atoms is postulated. Discrete tetrahedral geometries are assigned to Ph3M(COL) complexes and to R2Sn(COL)2 complexes in solution. The latte…

Diorganotin(IV) Complexes of Methyl 2-{[(E)-8-Oxo-5, 8-dihydroquinolin-5-ylidene]hydrazino}benzoate

2012

Three cis-bis{5-[(E)-2-(2-carbomethoxyphenyl)-1- diazenyl]quinolinolato}-diorganotin(IV), R2Sn(L)2, complexes [R = Me (1), Ph (2) and Bz (3)] were synthesized and characterized by 1H-, 13C-, 119Sn- NMR, IR, and 119Sn Mössbauer spectroscopic techniques in combination with elemental analysis. The structure of diphenyltin(IV) complex Ph2Sn(L)2 (2) was determined by single-crystal X-ray crystallography as its tri-benzene solvate. Each complex was found to adopt a distorted cis-R2 octahedral arrangement around the tin atom with the quinolinolato ligands being N,O-chelating; the oxygen atoms are trans to each other. The complexes retain their solid- state structure in non-coordinating solvents as…

Metallophilicity-assisted assembly of phosphine-based cage molecules.

2014

A family of supramolecular cage molecules has been obtained via self-assembly of the phosphine-gold coordination complexes following an aurophilicity-driven aggregation approach. Use of the di- (PP) or tridentate (PPP) phosphine ligands Pn (n = 2, 3) with rigid polyaromatic backbones leads to clean formation of the coordination Pn(Au(tht))n(n+) species, sequential treatment of which with H2O/NEt3 and excess of H2NBu(t) gives the finite 3D structures of two major types. The cylindrical-like hexametallic cages [(PPAu2)3(μ3-NBu(t))2](2+) are based on the diphosphines PP = 1,4-bis(diphenylphosphino)benzene (1), 4,4'-bis(diphenylphosphino)biphenyl (2), 4,4"-bis(diphenylphosphino)terphenyl (3), w…

Synthesis of tritiated derivatives of the diphenylether herbicides acifluorfen and acifluorfen methyl

1992

Acifluorfen 1 and acifluorfen methyl 2, two herbicides of the diphenylether family, are inhibitors of protoporphyrinogen oxidases. Two tritiated derivatives of these compounds, namely 3-[3H]-5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoic acid [3H]-1, and methyl 3-[3H]-5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoic acid [3H]-2, have been synthesised from 3-[3H]-5-hydroxybenzoic acid, in order to probe their interactions with the target enzymes.

Cytotoxicity and NMR Studies of Platinum Complexes with Cyclooctadiene Ligands

2014

The synthesis of a series of platinum complexes containing cyclooctadiene ligands with the general structure PtMeL(R-cod) (where L = Cl, I, nC3F7, iC3F7, nC8F17, Me, aryl, alkynyl and R = H, Me, Et, iPr, nBu, iBu, nHex, Ph) is presented. All complexes are remarkably stable and were obtained in excellent yields. Their structure in both solution and the solid state were explored by crystal structures and multinuclear (1H, 13C, 19F, 195Pt) NMR spectroscopy. Cytotoxicity experiments with selected complexes in HeLa cells revealed higher toxicity in comparison to that of cisplatin for most of the structures.

Synthesis and characterization of cyclometallated palladium(II) complexes with 2-(diphenylphosphino)benzaldehyde

2013

New palladium(II) complexes containing 2-(diphenylphosphino)benzaldehyde a (Ph2P(o-C6H4CHO), displaying different coordination modes, have been synthesized in moderate to good yields (62–91%). The cyclometallated palladium(II) complexes [Pd(C^N)(Ph2 P(o-C6H4CHO)(Cl)] (1–4) in which a is P-monodentate have been prepared by reacting it with selected cyclometallated precursors containing bridging chlorides [Pd(C^N)(μ-Cl)]2 [C^N=2-phenylpyridine (Phpy), 7,8-benzoquinoline (Bzq), azobenzene (Phazo), and 2-phenyloxazoline (Phox), respectively]. A rigid P,O-chelating behavior of a, confirmed by the crystal structure determination of [Pd(Phox)(Ph2 P (o-C6H4CHO)][CF3SO3] (8), is observed in complexe…

Fluoroquinolone–metal complexes: A route to counteract bacterial resistance?

2014

Abstract Microbial resistance to antibiotics is one of the biggest public health threats of the modern world. Antibiotic resistance is an area of much clinical relevance and therefore research that has the potential to identify agents that may circumvent it or treat resistant infections is paramount. Solution behavior of various fluoroquinolone (FQ) complexes with copper(II) in the presence and absence of 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) was studied in aqueous solution, by potentiometry and/or spectrophotometry, and are herein described. The results obtained showed that under physiological conditions (micromolar concentration range and pH 7.4) only copper(II):FQ:phen ternary complexes are stable.…
