Technostress and Social Networking Services: Uncovering Strains and Their Underlying Stressors

Numerous users of social networking sites and services (SNS) suffer from technostress and its various strains that hinder well-being. Despite a growing research interest on technostress, the extant studies have not explained what kinds of various strains can SNS use create and how can these strains be traced back to different stressors. Species-Specific Antioxidant Power and Bioactive Properties of the Extracts Obtained from Wild Mediterranean Calendula Spp. (Asteraceae)

In this study we focused on four taxa of the genus Calendula (C. maritima, C. suffruticosa subsp. fulgida, C. arvensis, and the hybrid between the first two ones), collected in Mediterranean area (Sicily). Six extracts for each species were obtained using solvents with increasing polarity (hexane, ethanol 80%, acetone 70%, and water) and through extraction by supercritical fluids (SFE). It has been observed that the solvent with the highest extraction efficiency was ethanol 80% for all species. However, SFE extracts showed high antioxidant activity comparable to the ethanol 80% extract (polyphenol, DPPH, and reducing power method). Glaucoma and Antioxidants: Review and Update

Glaucoma is a neurodegenerative disease characterised by the progressive degeneration of retinal ganglion cells. Oxidative stress has been related to the cell death in this disease. Theoretically, this deleterious consequence can be reduced by antioxidants substances. The aim of this review is to assemble the studies published in relation to antioxidant supplementation and its effects on glaucoma and to offer the reader an update on this field. With this purpose, we have included studies in animal models of glaucoma and clinical trials. Although there are variable results, supplementation with antioxidants in glaucoma may be a promising therapy in glaucoma.

Although aortic resection and end-to-end anastomosis are applied to repair ascending aortic aneurysm, there is a lack of information on the late risk of post-operative complications, such as aortic dissection and aneurysmal re-dilatation. Pētījuma mērķis bija pētīt atšķirības un saistības uztvertajā stresa līmenī un apmierinātībās ar darbu pedagogiem Latvijas lauku un pilsētu skolās. Pētījumā piedalījās 202 pedagogi no dažādām Latvijas lauku un pilsētu skolām (103 pilsētu skolu un 99 lauku skolu pedagogi) vecumā no 23 līdz 73 gadiem, vidējais vecums 45,88 gadi.
