In the last few years there has been an increasing interest in the issue of gender in translation practice especially thanks to the work of feminist critics and translators who see the act of translating as an activity which involves making use not of speciously neutral, so-called objective strategies, but rather dynamic procedures and tactics which negotiate and are negotiable, open and contingent, and which never assume feminine subjectivity to be an absolute and stable category. The visibility of the translator has become a pervasive topic of discussion in translation studies ever since it was explicitly approached by Lawrence Venuti in his well known 1995 The Translator’s Invisibility. In Flora Ossette’s translation into Spanish of Woman and Labour by Olive Schreiner we cannot only appreciate the voice of the “implicit translator” (Hermans 1996) but also the “explicit” voice. The Transfer of Names in Various Translations of Brothers Grimm’s Rumpelstilzchen

Wielu badaczy wskazuje transfer nazw własnych jako jedną z trudności przekładu. Niniejsza praca dotyczy translacji imion w dwudziestu jeden przekładach baśni Rumpelstilzchen spod pióra braci Grimm. Analizie zostały poddane angielskie, brazylijskie, polskie, tureckie oraz japońskie wydania baśni napisanej pierwotnie w języku niemieckim. Praca skupia się na analizie prawdziwego imienia tytułowego skrzata oraz imion wymienianych przez baśniową królową. Artykuł zawiera pięć analiz opisujących onomastyczne aspekty przekładu oraz zastosowane techniki tłumaczeniowe. Wyniki wskazują na to, że podejście tłumaczy do przekładu imion było różnorodne na przestrzeni lat oraz wydań. Najczęściej wykorzysty…

Frazeoloģismu tulkošana ir viens no sarežģītākajiem uzdevumiem, ko tulkotājs var uzņemties, jo frazeoloģismi ir sarežģīti izteicieni un starp abām valodām pastāv kultūras atšķirības. Šī pētījuma mērķis ir analizēt frazeoloģismus latviešu valodas tulkojumā filmās un seriālos. Mērķa sasniegšanai tika veikta satura analīze, kurā tika analizētas sešas filmas un viens seriāls, un aptaujas pētījums, kurā tika apkopoti tulkotāju viedokļi par frazeoloģismu atveidi. Pētījumā tika konstatēts, ka visbiežāk sastopamais veids ir caurspīdīgie (transparent) frazeoloģismi un visbiežāk izmantotā tulkošanas stratēģija bija parafrāze. Este trabajo analiza la figura de Segunda Martínez de Robles, pintora, traductora y escritora de la novela Las españolas náufragas o Correspondencia de dos amigas (1831). La autora refiere en ese texto algunos hechos con claras referencias autobiográficas. La novela fue escrita en estilo epistolar, un género emergente en aquellos años, y en su prólogo Segunda deja oír su propia voz justificando la osadía de su escritura novel por una necesidad económica. Ponadto obrazuje on różnice w strategiach tłumaczeniowych grup respondentów i dokumentuje, że fałszywych przyjaciół w tekście można uniknąć, przy zachowaniu szczególnej czujności w trakcie tłumaczenia leksykalnie równoważnych frazeologizmów.
