Star-polynomial identities: computing the exponential growth of the codimensions

Abstract Can one compute the exponential rate of growth of the ⁎-codimensions of a PI-algebra with involution ⁎ over a field of characteristic zero? It was shown in [2] that any such algebra A has the same ⁎-identities as the Grassmann envelope of a finite dimensional superalgebra with superinvolution B. Here, by exploiting this result we are able to provide an exact estimate of the exponential rate of growth e x p ⁎ ( A ) of any PI-algebra A with involution. It turns out that e x p ⁎ ( A ) is an integer and, in case the base field is algebraically closed, it coincides with the dimension of an admissible subalgebra of maximal dimension of B.

espanolResumen: En un estudio del que participaron 102 estudiantes universitarios, se comparo la comprension en la lectura de textos expositivos academicos impresos versus en formato de e-book Reader. Se examinaron los efectos del soporte, del conocimiento especifico de dominio previo del lector y la aptitud verbal. Asimismo se indagaron las actitudes de los estudiantes hacia los soportes textuales antes y despues de la experiencia. Los resultados sugieren que el e-book Reader beneficiaria a los lectores competentes, y/o que podria promover mayor actividad metacognitiva en los procesos de comprension. AbstractThis study develops a decision-making procedure to help policymakers compare alternative patterns for sustainable diets by reaching a compromise among three criteria: socio-economic perspective, health and environment (including carbon and water footprints). An Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) was performed in several stages. First, a total of 25 stakeholders (members of organizations on the Valencia Food Policy Council) evaluated criteria that are relevant to the sustainability of diets. AbstractThe IceCube Neutrino Observatory and its prototype, AMANDA, were built in South Pole ice, using powerful hot-water drills to cleanly bore>100 holes to depths up to 2500 m. The construction of these particle physics detectors provided a unique opportunity to examine the deep ice sheet using a variety of novel techniques. We made high-resolution particulate profiles with a laser dust logger in eight of the boreholes during detector commissioning between 2004 and 2010. Cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) is presently among the most effective psychological treatments of eating disorders (ED). The theory and CBT of Bulimia Nervosa developed by Fairburn shows positive, but still limited, outcomes. In order to enhance its effectiveness and extend the model (and treatment) to embrace all ED, Fairburn proposed the transdiagnostic theory and the CBT derived from it. This article aims to present a theoretical introduction to the topic and to describe the various forms of treatment according to the transdiagnostic view. The different stages of the CBT and their main components are presented in detail according to the 20-session focused version.
