Universitātes studiju procesam vajadzētu veicināt studējošo kritisko domāšanu, kas ir zinātnes pamats. Tā rezultātā vajadzētu mazināties studējošo piekrišanai epistēmiski nepamatotiem apgalvojumiem, īpaši sabiedrības intereses apdraudošajiem pseidozinātnisku teoriju apgalvojumiem. Aptaujas pētījumā, kas veikts divu Latvijas universitāšu divās fakultātēs (izlases lielums N=216; N(a)=111, N(b)=105), konstatēts, ka studējošo kvantitatīvā studiju pieredze (studiju gads, kurss un līmenis) statistiski nozīmīgi neasociē ar piekrišanu kļūdaini par zinātniskām uzskatītu teoriju (KPZUT), jeb pseidozinātņu apgalvojumiem. Jews in the discourse of the Catholic Church The article describes the most important changes which appeared after the Second Vatican Council in the discourse of the Catholic Church in reference to its attitude to confessors of Judaism. The change is the difference between the state of texts in two different moments, which is why the first part of the article is dedicated to the characteristics of pre-Council (and mostly pre-war) discourse about Jews, and the second part to main directions of the changes caused by the realization of the Council postulates. The first counting of souls in Vidzeme took place in 1782 and coincided with the 4 th analogous census of the provinces of Russia. Global warming affected increasing the risk of ducks to be more succeptable to heat stress which leads to decrease welfare and production. This research aimed to study duck welfare and productivity under probiotic and antioxidants administration at commercial farms. The method used was experiment with Completely Randomized Designed (CRD) based on factorial pattern. The treatment was dose of natural/homemade and commercial probiotics combined with vitamin C at 400 mg kg–1 and 600 mg kg–1 feed. Thus there were four treatment combinations. Values refer to abstract beliefs which serve as guidelines in peoples’ life and affect the way people and events are evaluated. Simultaneously, unlike attitudes, values transcend specific actions, and situations. While recent research showed that values are related to the attention and interpretation of situational information in standardized laboratory settings, up to date hardly any empirical work investigated how values relate to situation perception in daily life. Background. The aim of this report was to evaluate the clinical profile and previous management of patients with uncontrolled neuropathic pain who were referred to pain clinics. Methods. We included adult patients with uncontrolled pain who had a score of ≥4 in the DN4 questionnaire. In addition to sociodemographic and clinical data, we evaluated pain levels using a visual analog scale as well as anxiety, depression, sleep, disability, and treatment satisfaction employing validated tools. The society in developed countries is aging. 1.5% of seniors live in nursing homes in Latvia.Aim: to compare functional abilities and well-being between nursing home and home living Latvian seniors.Methods:280 home living seniors and 285 from nursing homes, age ≥ 65 years able to respond to questions and stand up were included in the study based on availability. Pelon kulttuuri viittaa viime vuosikymmeninä länsimaissa kasvaneeseen ilmiöön, jossa pelosta on tullut vallitseva osa jokapäiväistä elämää jonka kautta maailmaa ymmärretään.
