Intestinal CD36 : A long chain fatty acid receptor which controls post prandial hypertriglyceridemia, endotoxemia and intestinal epithelium integrity

Post prandial hypertriglyceridemia represents a risk factor for cardio-vascular diseases and it is associated with metabolic syndrom, obesity, and insulino-resistance. The intestine influences lipid bioavailibility and post prandial hypertriglyceridemia. It controls the quantity and the quality of secreted chylomicrons by adapting its metabolism according to the lipid content of the diet. Nevertheless, the mechanism of dietary lipid detection by the enterocyte is not understood. The aim of this study is to associate dietary patterns with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) parameters in a European population (Greece, Italy, and Serbia) affected by NAFLD. Preclinical immunomodulation by the probiotic Bifidobacterium breve M-16V in early life

This study aimed to investigate the effect of supplementation with the probiotic Bifidobacterium breve M-16V on the maturation of the intestinal and circulating immune system during suckling. In order to achieve this purpose, neonatal Lewis rats were supplemented with the probiotic strain from the 6th to the 18th day of life. The animals were weighed during the study, and faecal samples were obtained and evaluated daily. Iron is an essential metal for hemoglobin synthesis in erythrocytes, for oxidation-reduction reactions, and for cellular proliferation. The case for strategic international alliances to harness nutritional genomics for public and personal health

Nutrigenomics is the study of how constituents of the diet interact with genes, and their products, to alter phenotype and, conversely, how genes and their products metabolise these constituents into nutrients, antinutrients, and bioactive compounds. Results from molecular and genetic epidemiological studies indicate that dietary unbalance can alter gene-nutrient interactions in ways that increase the risk of developing chronic disease. The interplay of human genetic variation and environmental factors will make identifying causative genes and nutrients a formidable, but not intractable, challenge.
