Perception of basic emotions in clinical improvisations : an experimental study

2016

Recently the Finnish music therapy research has focused on therapy of clients with depression. In music psychology the global interest in felt and perceived emotions in music has been a clear trend for two to three decades. This experimental study shares the interests of both fields by examining perceived emotions in improvised music from music therapy sessions. In the experiment, participants (n=29), who were professional music therapists (n=14) and music therapy students (n=15), were asked to listen to 21 short excerpts from seven improvisations that clients with depression have played in their therapy. Meanwhile or after each excerpt, participants were asked to rate the strength of each …

Oświata w warunkach polskiej sowieckiej autonomii w ZSRS w latach 1925-1939

2017

Oświata w stalinowskim Związku Sowieckim była jednym z najważniejszych narzędzi indoktrynacji obywateli wszystkich narodowości. Ponad 1,2 min.

Pre-sleep arousal and sleep quality during the COVID-19 lockdown in Italy

2021

Abstract Objective The COVID-19 pandemic has strongly affected daily habits and psychological wellbeing, and many studies point to large modifications in several sleep and sleep-related domains. Nevertheless, pre-sleep arousal during the pandemic has been substantially overlooked. Since hyperarousal represents one of the main factors for the development and the perpetuation of chronic insomnia disorder, the assessment of variables associated with high levels of pre-sleep arousal during the pandemic is clinically relevant. The study aimed to assess the prevalence and predictors of perceived sleep quality and pre-sleep arousal in an Italian sample during the COVID-19 lockdown. Methods We used…

Maladaptive stress coping: An additional psychological factor in the process of chronification of pain or pruritus

2021

Background: Inflammatory skin diseases with chronic pruritus and chronic back pain are very common symptoms in the general population and are associated with a reduced quality of life (QOL). In addition to biological factors, psychosocial reasons are also considered to be responsible for their development. So far, it is not known whether chronic pruritus and chronic back pain are related to maladaptive stress coping. Patients and methods: In our matched pilot case-control study with a total of 259 analyzed subjects, we compared outpatient groups, one suffering from chronic skin diseases with pruritus, the other with chronic back pain, to a healthy control group in terms of their stress copi…

Vidusskolēnu iesaistes skolā un depresijas pazīmju saistība

2017

2022

The conflict between work and family demands increased during the COVID-19 pandemic due to changes in lifestyle related to the lockdown. This study examines the associations between work-family conflict (WFC) and family-work conflict (FWC) with work-specific, family-specific, and well-being-related variables during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The results may be used in practice to improve the well-being of employees by adjusting home-based work and family areas of life to dynamic changes during the pandemic. Stłumiona narracja. Igora Marojevicia opowieść o naddunajskich Szwabach

2017

On the South Slavic territories, the end of the World War II came with the victory of communism. As a result, post-war decades in Yugoslavia were subordinated to the partisan ethos founded on the myth of the struggle with fascism. Directly after the war, this struggle assumed disposing of the so-called domestic enemies amongst whom there were also the Germans living in the Serbian Vojvodina from the 18th century. In the post-war Serbia, diversified repressions (displacements, forcible work, camp experience, confiscation of things) were aimed at the German people, predominantly civilians. These repressions constituted the taboo in the Yugoslavian national discourse, with this situation lasti…

Depressive symptoms and long-term income: The Young Finns Study

2016

Abstract Background Higher depressive symptoms have been associated with lower future income. However, studies examining this issue have had limited follow-up times and have used self-reported measures of income. Also, possible confounders or mediators have not been accounted. Methods 971 women and 738 men were selected from the ongoing prospective Young Finns Study (YFS) that began in 1980. Depressive symptoms were measured in 1992 when participants were from 15 to 30 years old. Information on annual income and earnings from 1993 to 2010 were obtained from the Finnish Longitudinal Employer-Employee Data (FLEED) of Statistics Finland and linked to the YFS. Results Higher depressive symptoms…

Income and Mental Well-Being : Personality Traits as Moderators

2020

Using data from the participants of the Jyväskylä Longitudinal Study of Personality and Social Development (JYLS) at ages 42 and 50 (N = 326), this study provides empirical evidence of the relation between income and mental well-being and of the possible role of personality traits in modifying this relation. The relationships were analyzed using pooled ordinary least squares (OLS; bi- and multivariate settings) and fixed effects estimations (FE; multivariate settings). Positive bivariate associations were found between gross monthly income and the sum score of mental well-being and its separate dimensions (emotional, psychological, and social well-being and the absence of depression) as wel…
