AbstractThis chapter examines toxic meritocracy in relation to gender in competitive Overwatch, asking how gender affects a player’s opportunities for engagement in that scene. It analyzes online news stories and community discussions concerning “Ellie” – a fabricated competitive woman gamer created as a “social experiment” by a man player. This paper looks at the rich, and largely unexplored, correspondence of Jan Józef Baranowski, an insurgent in the November Uprising, a refugee in France and England, an accomplished inventor and the author of a two-volume bilingual dictionary (Anglo-Polish lexicon, 1883; Słownik polsko-angielski, 1884). Baranowski’s letters, primarily those addressed to Leonard Niedźwiedzki, allow one to investigate both his lexicographic conceptions and working methods. As it has turned out, the design of his dictionary was innovative, but Baranowski had experience neither in lexicography nor foreign language teaching. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest odpowiedź na pytanie, jak ten wyjątkowy, czasem wulgarny i przede wszystkim nad wyraz emocjonalny wariant języka został przetłumaczony na język niemiecki. Po prezentacji szczególnych właściwości leksykalnych tekstu wyjściowego przedstawiono oraz skomentowano wybrane rozwiązania tłumaczeniowe.

The 3-(1H-indol-2-yl)-7H-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazin-6-ol 2 was obtained exclusively in the enol configuration starting from triazolyl-indole derivative 1 and alkyl halo-esters in the presence of K2CO3. Chemical structure elucidations with the aid of physicochemical characterizations were used to predict its molecular structure while single crystal X-ray diffraction technique was used to shed the light on the supramolecular structure of 2. The reactions of heavier group 14 element alkyne analogues (EAriPr4)2 (E = Ge, Sn; AriPr4 = C6H3-2,6-(C6H3-2,6-iPr2)2) with the group 6 transition-metal carbonyls M(CO)6 (M = Cr, Mo, W) under UV irradiation resulted in the cleavage of the E–E triple bond and the formation of the complexes {AriPr4EM(CO)4}2 (1–6), which were characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction as well as by IR and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy. Single-crystal X-ray structural analyses of 1–6 showed that the complexes have a nearly planar rhomboid M2E2 core with three-coordinate group 14 atoms. Maģistra darba mērķis ir parādīt politiskā diskursa tabu leksikas tulkošanas problēmas, kuras ietekmētu tulkošanas rezultātu kvalitāti, izvērtēt šo jēdzienu dažādo izpratni un to interpretēšanas nozīmi publiskā viedokļa veidošanā. Darbā veikta politiskā diskursa tabu teorijas analīze, izvērtēta tulkotāja loma, izvēlēti četri interneta plašsaziņas laikraksti, kuros Ukrainas notikumu kontekstā tika pētīti politiskā diskursa tabu jēdzieni, izveidota Ukrainas konflikta tabu jēdzienu vārdnīca. Autore konstatēja, ka politiskajā diskursā notiek manipulācijas ar tabu tēmām, kā rezultātā rodas dažādas šo jēdzienu izpratnes, kas apgrūtina tulkotāja darbu.
