Determination of energy fluxes in composite plates or processed by Vico-constrained damping patch
2021
Lightening structures is an important issue in the world of transport. On the other hand, for the improvement of comfort, increasing performance is demanded today, particularly in the vibratory and acoustic field, which leads to the addition of damping materials. The proposed research work consists in the vibrational optimization of the structures by the addition of viscoelastic patches damping positioned wisely. The main function of the viscoelastic used to improve the vibro-acoustic performances, is to provide a mechanism of dissipation of mechanical energy. This attenuation of noise and vibrations causes a conversion of mechanical energy into thermal energy, which, after diffusion into t…
Patient-specific simulation of the intrastromal ring segment implantation in corneas with keratoconus
2015
Purpose The purpose of this study was the simulation of the implantation of intrastromal corneal-ring segments for patients with keratoconus. The aim of the study was the prediction of the corneal curvature recovery after this intervention. Methods Seven patients with keratoconus diagnosed and treated by implantation of intrastromal corneal-ring segments were enrolled in the study. The 3D geometry of the cornea of each patient was obtained from its specific topography and a hyperelastic model was assumed to characterize its mechanical behavior. To simulate the intervention, the intrastromal corneal-ring segments were modeled and placed at the same location at which they were placed in the s…
Victimization at school: relationship of parenting and functional-dysfunctional developmental variables
2015
Origin of the synchronicity in bond formation in polar Diels-Alder reactions: an ELF analysis of the reaction between cyclopentadiene and tetracyanoe…
2012
[EN] The origin of the synchronicity in C-C bond formation in polar Diels-Alder (P-DA) reactions involving symmetrically substituted electrophilic ethylenes has been studied by an ELF analysis of the electron reorganization along the P-DA reaction of cyclopentadiene (Cp) 4 with tetracyanoethylene (TCE) 10 at the B3LYP/6-31G* level. The present study makes it possible to establish that the synchronicity in C-C bond formation in P-DA reactions is controlled by the symmetric distribution of the electron-density excess reached in the electrophile through the charge transfer process, which can be anticipated by an analysis of the spin electron-density at the corresponding radical anion. The ELF …
Electrical transport in carbon black-epoxy resin composites at different temperatures
2013
Citation: J. Appl. Phys. 114, 033707 (2013); doi: 10.1063/1.4815870 (Received 3 May 2013; accepted 27 June 2013; published online 17 July 2013) Results of broadband electric/dielectric properties of different surface area—carbon black/epoxy resin composites above the percolation threshold are reported in a wide temperature range (25–500 K). At higher temperatures (above 400 K), the electrical conductivity of composites is governed by electrical transport in polymer matrix and current carriers tunneling from carbon black clusters to polymer matrix. The activation energy of such processes decreases when the carrier concentration increases, i.e., with the increase of carbon black concentration…
Oxide or carbide nanoparticles synthesized by laser ablation of a bulk Hf target in liquids and their structural, optical, and dielectric properties
2016
International audience; Laser ablation of a bulk Hf target in deionized (DI) water, ethanol, or toluene was carried out for the production of nanoparticles' colloidal solutions. Due to the interaction of the ablation plasma plume species with the species which are produced by the liquid decomposition at the plume-liquid interface, hafnia (HfO2) nanoparticles are synthesized in DI water, hafnium carbide (HfC) nanoparticles in toluene, and a mixture of these in ethanol. The hafnia nanoparticles are in the monoclinic low temperature phase and in the tetragonal and fcc high temperature phases. Their size distribution follows log-normal function with a median diameter in the range of 4.3–5.3 nm.…
Operation and first results of the NEXT-DEMO prototype using a silicon photomultiplier tracking array
2013
NEXT-DEMO is a high-pressure xenon gas TPC which acts as a technological test-bed and demonstrator for the NEXT-100 neutrinoless double beta decay experiment. In its current configuration the apparatus fully implements the NEXT-100 design concept. This is an asymmetric TPC, with an energy plane made of photomultipliers and a tracking plane made of silicon photomultipliers (SiPM) coated with TPB. The detector in this new configuration has been used to reconstruct the characteristic signature of electrons in dense gas, demonstrating the ability to identify the MIP and "blob" regions. Moreover, the SiPM tracking plane allows for the definition of a large fiducial region in which an excellent e…
Effects of nonlinearity and substrate’s deformability on modulation instability in NKG equation
2017
International audience; This article investigates combined effects of nonlinearities and substrate's deformability on modulational instability. For that, we consider a lattice model based on the nonlinear Klein-Gordon equation with an on-site potential of deformable shape. Such a consideration enables to broaden the description of energy-localization mechanisms in various physical systems. We consider the strong-coupling limit and employ semi-discrete approximation to show that nonlinear wave modulations can be described by an extended nonlinear Schrodinger equation containing a fourth-order dispersion component. The stability of modulation of carrier waves is scrutinized and the following …
Experimental observations of topologically guided water waves within non-hexagonal structures
2020
International audience; We investigate symmetry-protected topological water waves within a strategically engineered square lattice system. Thus far, symmetry protected topological modes in hexagonal systems have primarily been studied in electromagnetism and acoustics, i.e., dispersionless media. Herein, we show experimentally how crucial geometrical properties of square structures allow for topological transport that is ordinarily forbidden within conventional hexagonal structures. We perform numerical simulations that take into account the inherent dispersion within water waves and devise a topological insulator that supports symmetry-protected transport along the domain walls. Our measur…
Sound absorption prediction of linear damped acoustic resonators using a lightweight hybrid model
2019
International audience; A lightweight numerical method is developed to predict the sound absorption coefficient of resonators whose cross-section dimensions are significantly larger compared to the viscous and thermal boundary layer’s thicknesses. This method is based on the boundary layer theory and on the perturbations theory. According to the perturbations theory, in acoustical domains with large dimensions, the fluid viscosity and thermal conductivity only affect the boundary layers. The model proposed in this article combines the lossless Helmholtz wave equation derived from a perfect fluid hypothesis, with viscosity and thermal conductivity values of a real fluid to compute the sound …
