Abstract The contrast depth is analyzed as well, that is the sensitivity of electron mirror microscope to disorders of homogeneity on the object (local magnetic and electric fields, surface relief). Because of the latter ones, electron trajectories feel disturbances (electrons acquire additional increment velocity in radial and azimuthal directions), which leads to the shift of the observed point on the screen and, as a consequence, to the image contrast. Since the electron energy, when reflected, tends to zero, electrons are influenced by heterogeneities for a long time. Common-path phase-shifting digital holographic microscopy: A way to quantitative phase imaging and superresolution

We present an experimental setup useful for complex amplitude evaluation and phase image quantification of three-dimensional (3-D) samples in digital holographic microscopy (DHM). It is based on a common-path interferometric configuration performed by dividing the input plane in two contiguous regions and by placing a translation grating near to the Fourier plane. Then, complex amplitude distribution of the sample under test is recovered with phase-shifting standard method obtained by moving the grating using a linear motion stage. Micro-fluidic pumps as well as artificial micro-swimmers are conveniently realized exploiting phoretic solvent flows based on local gradients of temperature, electrolyte concentration or pH. We here present a facile micro-photometric method for monitoring pH gradients and demonstrate its performance and scope on different experimental situations including an electro-osmotic pump and modular micro-swimmers assembled from ion exchange resin beads and polystyrene colloids. In combination with the present microscope and DSLR camera our method offers a 2 \mu m spatial resolution at video frame rate over a field of view of 3920x2602 \mu m^2. Abstract: Integral microscopes (IMic) have been recently developed in order to capture the spatial and the angular information of 3D microscopic samples with a single exposure. Computational post-processing of this information permits to carry out a 3D reconstruction of the sample. By applying conventional algorithms, both depth and also view reconstructions are possible. Filter performance parameters for vectorial high-aperture wave fields.

Performance parameters have been presented that can be used to compare the focusing performance of different optical systems, including the effect of pupil filters. These were originally given for the paraxial case and recently extended to the high-aperture scalar regime. We generalize these parameters to the full vectorial case for an aplanatic optical system illuminated by a plane-polarized wave. The behavior of different optical systems is compared.

RFLP analyses with minisatellite probes yield highly informative individual specific banding patterns (genetic fingerprints) (Jeffreys et al.). Because of the complexity of the pattern and marked differences in band intensities a good band resolution and high sensitivity of the probe are essential. 2017

Accretion dynamics in the formation of young stars is still a matter of debate because of limitations in observations and modeling. Through scaled laboratory experiments of collimated plasma accretion onto a solid in the presence of a magnetic field, we open a first window on this phenomenon by tracking, with spatial and temporal resolution, the dynamics of the system and simultaneously measuring multiband emissions. We observe in these experiments that matter, upon impact, is ejected laterally from the solid surface and then refocused by the magnetic field toward the incoming stream. Monolithic focused reference beam x-ray holography

Fourier transform holography is a highly efficient and robust imaging method, suitable for single-shot imaging at coherent X-ray sources. In its common implementation, the image contrast is limited by the reference signal generated by a small pinhole aperture. Increased pinhole diameters improve the signal, whereas the resolution is diminished. Here we report a new concept to decouple the spatial resolution from the image contrast by employing a Fresnel zone plate to provide the reference beam. The fifth order Peregrine breather and its eight-parameters deformations solutions of the NLS equation.

We construct here explicitly new deformations of the Peregrine breather of order 5 with 8 real parameters. This gives new families of quasi-rational solutions of the NLS equation and thus one can describe in a more precise way the phenomena of appearance of multi rogue waves. With this method, we construct new patterns of different types of rogue waves. We get at the same time, the triangular configurations as well as rings isolated. Moreover, one sees appearing for certain values of the parameters, new configurations of concentric rings.
