V11. Functional hierarchy within an overall network for visual motion processing and ocular-motor control at rest
2015
Introduction Visual motion processing on one hand and ocular motor functions on the other are rarely studied together in vivo in humans. The interrelation of these functional networks is rather unclear, even though their functional dependence seems obvious. In several fMRI studies the essential nodes of both networks could be localized using voluntary optokinetic ('look') nystagmus (OKN) in the horizontal plane incorporating visual motion tracking (Dieterich et al., 2009). Here, functional connectivity (FC) between these nodes representing both networks was studies using resting-state FC. Methods Resting-state fMRI data of 200 healthy adults (age 44.1±17.9; 79 male) were included in the cro…
EP 34. Functional hierarchy within the neural network for optokinetic ‘look’ nystagmus
2016
Item does not contain fulltext Key nodes of neural networks for ocular motor control and visual motion processing have been localized using saccades, smooth pursuit, and optokinetic nystagmus (OKN). Within the context of an independent fMRI study using OKN, 9 bilateral network nodes were localized comprising cortical eye fields in frontal (FEF), supplementary motor (SEF), cingulate (CEF) and parietal cortex (PEF), visual motion centers MT+ and V6, the superior colliculus (SC), the lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN) and the globus pallidus (GP). Here, we examined the network's functional hierarchy as present in the structural co-variation (SCoV) and resting-state (RS) fMRI, and the effect of R…
Physician pharmacist practice groups : consistency and feasibility in the primary healthcare system. Evaluation of an experiment in France
2022
The regulation of drug prescription by general practitioners is based on various mechanisms, but unlike other countries (Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland), it does not include practice groups between general practitioners and community pharmacists (GPMPs). This thesis analyses the coherence and, above all, the feasibility of such practice groups in our health system. The first chapter presents a macroeconomic and microeconomic analysis of the drug prescription by French general practitioners (GPs). It emphasises that it is an important target for regulatory policy because of its contribution to health expenditure but also its health impact, with prescriptions whose relevance could be i…
&ldquo;Out of the Can&rdquo;: A Draft Genome Assembly, Liver Transcriptome and Nutrigenomics of the European Sardine, <em>Sardina p<…
2018
Clupeiformes, such as sardines and herrings, represent an important share of worldwide fisheries. Among those, the European sardine (Sardina pilchardus, Walbaum 1792) exhibits significant commercial relevance. While the last decade showed a steady and sharp decline in capture levels, recent advances in culture husbandry represent promising research avenues. Yet, the complete absence of genomic resources from sardine imposes a severe bottleneck to understand its physiological and ecological requirements. We generated 69 Gbp of paired-end reads using Illumina HiSeq X Ten and assembled a draft genome assembly with an N50 scaffold length of 25579 bp and BUSCO completeness of 82.1% (Actinopteryg…
Profiles of University Professors in Spain for the European Higher Education Area (EHEA)
2009
This paper presents the findings of a research study of professors’ profiles for the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) conducted in five spanish universities. Through the application of qualitative methods of inquiry, the perceptions of several groups of university professors over the principal teaching qualifications necessary for the coordination of higher education throughout the European Union have been obtained. Data analysis indicates a significant discrepancy between actual Spanish professors and those required by EHEA. It has also made possible the detailed description of teaching competency profiles that professors believe to be fundamental for the new functions demanded of the…

Noise correlations of the ultracold Fermi gas in an optical lattice
2008
In this paper we study the density noise correlations of the two component Fermi gas in optical lattices. Three different type of phases, the BCS-state (Bardeen, Cooper, and Schieffer), the FFLO-state (Fulde, Ferrel, Larkin, and Ovchinnikov), and BP (breach pair) state, are considered. We show how these states differ in their noise correlations. The noise correlations are calculated not only at zero temperature, but also at non-zero temperatures paying particular attention to how much the finite temperature effects might complicate the detection of different phases. Since one-dimensional systems have been shown to be very promising candidates to observe FFLO states, we apply our results als…
On finite element approximation of the gradient for solution of Poisson equation
1981
A nonconforming mixed finite element method is presented for approximation of ?w with Δw=f,w| r =0. Convergence of the order $$\left\| {\nabla w - u_h } \right\|_{0,\Omega } = \mathcal{O}(h^2 )$$ is proved, when linear finite elements are used. Only the standard regularity assumption on triangulations is needed.
