Abstract After providing a picture of the global transcriptomic changes of grapevine responses to “stolbur” phytoplasma, the recovery status and molecular responses to the phytoplasma and virus co-presence were analyzed. NimbleGen ® Vitis vinifera genome arrays were used. Lower transcript abundance of the genes involved in photosynthesis, trehalose, phospholipids was observed in response to the presence of “stolbur” phytoplasma. The expression of the genes involved in tetrapyrrole increased. The recovered plants showed that the transcripts involved in ATP synthesis and amino acid metabolism, secondary metabolism and biotic stress-related pathways increased. GIPC: Glycosyl Inositol Phospho Ceramides, the major sphingolipids on earth

What are the most abundant sphingolipids on earth? The answer is Glycosyl Inositol Phosphoryl Ceramides (GIPCs) present in fungi and the green lineage. In this review, we discuss the putative role of plant GIPCs in the lipid bilayer asymmetry, in the lateral organization of membrane rafts and in the very long chain fatty acid inter-leaflet coupling of lipids in the plant plasma membrane (PM). A special focus on the structural similarities -and putative functions- of GIPCs is discussed by comparison with animal gangliosides, structural homologs of plant GIPCs.

The thylakoid membrane of algae and land plants is characterized by its intricate architecture, comprising tightly appressed membrane stacks termed grana. The contributions of individual components to grana stack formation are not yet fully elucidated. Molecule structural factors influencing the loading of flavoring compounds in a natural-preformed capsule: Yeast cells

International audience; Yeast cells are efficient microcapsules for the encapsulation of flavoring compounds. However, as they are preformed capsules, they have to be loaded with the active. Encapsulation efficiency is to a certain level correlated with LogP. In this study, the effect of structural factors on the encapsulation of amphiphilic flavors was investigated. Homological series of carboxylic acids, ethyl esters, lactones, alcohols and ketones were encapsulated into the yeast Yarrowia lipolytica. Anthocyanins of Coloured Wheat Genotypes in Specific Response to SalStress

The present study investigated the effect of salt stress on the development of adaptive responses and growth parameters of different coloured wheat genotypes. The different coloured wheat genotypes have revealed variation in the anthocyanin content, which may affect the development of adaptive responses under increasing salinity stress. In the early stage of treatment with salt at a lower NaCl concentration (100 mM), anthocyanins and proline accumulate, which shows rapid development of the stress reaction. Ventilation and gas exchange before and after voluntary static surface breath-holds in clinically healthy bottlenose dolphins, Tursiops truncatus

ABSTRACT We measured respiratory flow ( V ), breathing frequency ( f R ), tidal volume ( V T ), breath duration and end-expired O 2 content in bottlenose dolphins ( Tursiops truncatus ) before and after static surface breath-holds ranging from 34 to 292 s. There was considerable variation in the end-expired O 2 , V T and f R following a breath-hold. The analysis suggests that the dolphins attempt to minimize recovery following a dive by altering V T and f R to rapidly replenish the O 2 stores. For the first breath following a surface breath-hold, the end-expired O 2 decreased with dive duration, while V T and f R increased.
