Il saggio, inserito nel volume in doppia lingua "Architetture in terra nell'Italia del Sud", ricostruisce alcuni degli episodi e delle prassi costruttive che in Sicilia hanno visto l'uso della terra cruda nelle costruzioni edilizie. Utilizzando fonti archivistiche, bibliografiche e dirette su manufatti ancora esistenti, lo scritto ritrova la terra nei modi del fabbricare dal Cinquecento ai primi anni del Novecento, da Messina a Palermo, per la formazione di mattoni o per la muratura in "pietra e tajo", così diffusa e poco conosciuta da determinare difficoltà di interpretazione e di intervento.
Reduced regional systolic function evolved compacted segments in noncompaction

Abstract In a recent report about noncompaction Nemes et al. reported that systolic left ventricular (LV) dysfunction assessed using the wall motion score during 2D echocardiography in noncompaction is not confined to noncompacted LV segments. These results confirmed some published reports of our group. Recently we analyzed a population of 238 patients affected by noncompaction, and demonstrated that the number of noncompacted segment is uncorrelated with the degree of systolic dysfunction. Experimental study of electron transport in mesoscopic carbon based nanostructures

In this thesis we have studied experimentally electronic transport in mesoscopic hybrid polypyrrole-gold devices and single multiwalled carbon nanotube devices. A novel fabrication technique for mesoscopic conducting hybrid polymer-gold films has been developed. The hybrid polymer-gold films have been fabricated by electrochemical deposition of polypyrrole on a gold nanoisland layer. Temperature dependence of conductance show that the dominant transport mechanism in the polypyrrole-gold films is variable range hopping in the temperature range from 20 K to 300 K. The endopolygalacturonase 1 from botrytis cinerea activates grapevine defense reactions unrelated to its enzyumatic activity

A purified glycoprotein from Botrytis cinerea(strain T4), identified as endopolygalacturonase 1 (T4BcPG1) by mass spectrometry analysis, has been shown to activate defense reactions in grapevine (Vitis vinifera cv. Gamay). These reactions include calcium influx, production of active oxygen species, activation of two mitogen-activated protein kinases, defense gene transcript accumulation, and phytoalexin production. Most of these defense reactions were also activated in grapevine in response to purified oligogalacturonides (OGA) with a degree of polymerization of 9 to 20. Les recherches sur ces activités manufacturières menées conjointement à Bibracte et à Autun nous offrent ainsi une opportunité d’étudier ces problématiques sur la durée. Candida albicans ATCC 26555 switched at high frequency (10(-1) to 10(-3)) between several phenotypes identified by colony morphology on a defined mineral amino-acid-containing agar medium supplemented with arginine and zinc (LAZ medium). When cells taken from colonies exhibiting distinct morphologies were plated directly onto LAZ agar, spontaneous conversion to all the variant phenotypes occurred at combined frequencies of 2.1 x 10(-1) to 9.5 x 10(-3).
