N-Ethylaziridine (1) was polymerized in water with HCl as initiator and copolymerized with N-(2-hydroxyethyl)aziridine (2). Rapid propagation and termination reactions were observed. The maximum yield increases with the initiator concentration, whereas the molecular weight decreases. This is due to the difference in basicity between the tertiary N-atoms of the two monomers and the tertiary and the terminal secondary N-atoms of the polymers, which causes tranfer and termination reactions. Macrocycles with a side chain on a quaternary N-atom are formed. During the copolymerization, the more basic 1 is preferentially incorporated into the copolymer chain. The copolymerization parameters can be…
Facile Preparation of 3-Amino-4-(arylamino)-1H-isochromen-1-ones by a New Multicomponent Reaction
2005
Reactions between 2-formylbenzoic acid, various anilines and HCN result in the formation of 3-amino-4-(arylamino)-1H-isochromen-1-ones in high yield. The mechanism of this three-component condensation involves the intermediate formation of an α-aminonitrile and subsequent cyclization through nucleophilic attack of the ortho-carboxylate at the nitrile carbon. ChemInform Abstract: Addition of Nucleophiles to Fluorinated Michael Acceptors.
2016
A series of nucleophiles, including primary and secondary amines, primary alcohols, and thiols, as well as diethyl malonate and nitromethane, were added to different fluorinated Michael acceptors including 2-fluoroalk-1-en-3-ones and 2-fluoro-1-phenylprop-2-en-1-one. The resulting β-substituted α-fluoro ketones were isolated in 34–92 % yield, depending on the substrate and the nucleophile. The best yields were obtained with secondary amines and with p-methylthiophenol.
Regio- and diastereoselective condensation of resorcarenes with primary amines and formaldehyde
1995
Abstract Mannich reactions of resorcarenes 1 with chiral amines yield single diastereomeric tetrakis-(benzodihydro-1,3-oxazine) derivatives 2 in high yields (80–90%). Epimerisation of these products occurs in the presence of acid.
ChemInform Abstract: Baeyer-Villiger Oxidation of Ketones with a Silica-Supported Peracid in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide under Flow Conditions.
2009
[2-Percarboxyethyl]-functionalized silica reacts with ketones in supercritical carbon dioxide at 250 bar and 40 °C under flow conditions to yield the corresponding esters and lactones. The solid reagent can be easily recycled through treatment with 70% hydrogen peroxide in the presence of an acid at 0 °C. This procedure not only simplifies the isolation of the reaction products, but has the advantage of using only water and carbon dioxide as solvents under mild conditions.
Synthesis of Elemane Bis-Lactones from Santonin – Synthesis of the Reported Structure ofseco-Isoerivanin Pseudo Acid and Formal Synthesis of (+)-8-De…
2000
The synthesis of the reported structure for seco-isoerivanin pseudo acid (1) and of an elemane bis-lactone 5 from santonin (4) through a common vinylic precursor 12 is described. Compound 5 is a known intermediate in a previous synthesis of the antitumor compound (+)-8-deoxyvernolepin (3). The vinyl group of 12 underwent a regio- and diastereoselective anti addition of an external electrophile and an intramolecular condensation to yield either the selenolactone 13 or the hydroxylactone 17. The lactones 13 and 17 served as key intermediates in the total synthesis of 1 and 5 respectively. A revision of the structure of seco-isoerivanin pseudo acid to the C-10 epimer is suggested on the basis …
ChemInform Abstract: First Reactions of Dialkoxycarbenium Tetrafluoroborates with Pyrroles, 5H-Dibenz(b,f)azepines, and Electron-Rich Arenes.
1990
Pyrrole (2a) and 2,5-dimethylpyrrole (2b) react with the dialkoxycarbenium tetrafluoroborates 1a-1c under kinetic control to yield the corresponding acylpyrrole derivatives. 5H-Dibenz[b,f]azepine (9a) and the 10,11-dihydro derivative 9b react only with the most electrophilic of the series of electrophiles tested, namely, diethoxycarbenium tetrafluoroborate (1a), to furnish the corresponding formyl derivatives. Similarly, in arene chemistry, the highly electron-rich N,N-dimethylaniline (13a) and 1,3,5-trimethoxybenzene (13b) are formylated by reaction with 1a.
Novel 2-pyrone synthesis via Michael addition of mandelic acid enolate to trans-1,2-diaroylethenes
2005
4-Aroyl-6-aryl-3-phenyl-2-pyrones are prepared in a three-step procedure involving the Michael addition of a cis-2,5-disubstituted-1,3-dioxolan-4-one, derived from mandelic acid, to trans-1,2-diaroylethenes, cyclisation to a furan under acidic conditions and lactonisation. The 2-pyrones can be also obtained directly from the Michael products under prolonged or strong acidic treatment with little decrease in yield.
Reaktivitäut und reaktionswege von methylsubstituierten bisindolylcarbenium-ionen
1987
Methyl substituted bisindolylcarbenium ions 1 react with some O- and C-nucleophiles regioselectively. The cations 1b, 1c yield with hydroxide ions the tetraindolyldimethyl ether 4 and with methoxide ions the bisin-dolylmethoxymethanes 5. Compounds 1a, 1b, 1c react with several methylindoles to isomeric bis- and trisin-dolylmethanes. An electrophilic reactivity order of cations 1 can be derived supporting on the experimental results.
Versatile oxidative approach to carbazoles and related compounds using MoCl5.
2013
The unique oxidizing power of molybdenum pentachloride provides an easy to perform, versatile, and high yielding method to construct carbazoles and the corresponding dibenzo analogues of thiophene, furan, and selenophene. The coupling reaction tolerates a variety of functional groups. The synthesis is highly modular. By this approach a precursor for the naturally occurring carbazole koenigicine was prepared.
