Traducción de textos literarios e ideología en Legioni e Falangi/Legiones y Falanges. El caso de “La calle Mayor. Racconto di Edgar Neville”

This study is based in the renewed interest in the symbolic universe of totalitarianism, as a forge of cultural spaces for the construction of group identity and ideologically marked linguistic-literary products, as well as possible conflictual cracks, respect to the cultural paradigms in which they are produced. Since, in any case, the link between power and word – even as a literary word and, therefore, a creator of possible worlds – is vigorous and it has the opportunity to activate a further potentiality in the translation process, we propose to analyse an emblematic example of translation of Edgar Neville’s short story, “La calle mayor” (Legioni e Falangi, I, 9, 1941, 27-30), published…

La obra de Galdós en las traducciones italianas

From the translation of Marianela (1880), the Italian reception of the works of Benito Pérez Galdós through translations does not present a very satisfactory situation, but rather uneven, especially if we take into account the production of contemporary translations to the Canarian writer or in the decades immediately after his disappearance, with some emblematic cases of manipulation with a very partial and censored translation such as that of Fortunata e Giacinta (1926), framed in the Fascist Ventennio, although it was the first translation into a foreign language of the Galdosian masterpiece. This study aims to recover and organize the panorama of translations into Italian of Galdós's na…

Intersticios conflictivos en la sección «Un cuento mensual» de la revista Legiones y Falanges (1940-1943)

This study focuses on the seven short narrative texts of the Spanish edition of the magazine Legiones y Falanges (1940-43), which were published under the heading "A monthly story", from May / June 1942 to December same year. The heading "A monthly story" presents six stories by Spanish authors and only one in translation, "Nariz Azul", by Italian reporter and writer Vittorio G. Rossi. The Spanish firms are all of intellectual figures often of avant-garde formation and production as Samuel Ros, José María Sánchez Silva, Tomás Borrás, D. Fernández Barreira, Alfredo Marqueríe and Tristán Yuste, literary pseudonym of Octavio Aparicio López. The stories grouped in the rubric, within the lines o…

In recent years, and in different spheres, there has been a renewed interest in the symbolic universe of 'authoritarianism' or, in any case, in the construction of cultural spaces and covered linguistic-literary discourses, intentionally or not, by ideologies. This book is the first fruit of a project that is proposed to recover, in the bilingual magazine Legioni e Falangi. Rivista d'Italia e di Spagna / Legions and Phalanges. Monthly magazine of Italy and Spain (1940-1943), the memory of a literary production that has been dispersing. This book, at the same time, is the fruit of the research work of the International Research Network MEMITÀ - Memory, Identity, Integration to Identify Analy…
