Clinical Nurses Research Priorities in Hospital Settings: A Delphi Survey

This study aimed to identify the research priorities of clinical nurses to develop a research program at a health care services system that includes three hospitals. A Delphi survey was emailed to all clinical nurses in two rounds. The Delphi method was used to collect data from the nurses in regards to their priority research themes, and the data were analyzed using descriptive and comparative statistics. Aim The aim of this study was to describe the accuracy and quality of nursing documentation of the prevalence, risk factors and prevention of pressure ulcers, and compare retrospective audits of nursing documentation with patient examinations conducted in nursing homes. Design This study used a cross-sectional descriptive design. Abstract Background The objective was to summarize knowledge and systematically collect and quantify meta-analytical results regarding the effects of high-fidelity simulation in nursing education to improve students' ability to recognize and respond to deteriorating patients. Methods In total, 4048 citations were screened, 40 articles were selected for full-text screening, and 14 articles were included. Six articles were subsequently included in the meta-analysis. Agility activities for children in a municipality in Norway.

The aim of this study was to investigate whether agility activity with dogs can be used to motivate less active children in physical activity and how such activity is experienced by parents and handlers. Data were collected through qualitative interviews with handlers and parents of the participating children. Agility with dogs appeared to motivate less active children to participate in, and endure, demanding physical activity. Joy and bonding with the dog appeared to be key elements in the motivational process. Motivation, initiation, and sustainment of activity over time are beneficial for children.

Clinical practices to promote sleep in the ICU: A multinational survey

PURPOSE: To describe sleep assessment and strategies to promote sleep in adult ICUs in ten countries.METHODS: Multicenter, self-administered survey sent to nurse managers.RESULTS: Response rate was 66% with 522 ICUs providing data. 'Lying quietly with closed eyes' was the characteristic most frequently perceived as indicative of sleep by >60% of responding ICUs in all countries except Italy. Few ICUs (9%) had a protocol for sleep management or used sleep questionnaires (1%). The Effects of Using High-Fidelity Simulation in Undergraduate Nursing Education: A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial with a Process Evaluation

Abstract The overall aim of this study was to examine the effects of a high-fidelity simulation on the knowledge and self-confidence of a total of 177 undergraduate nursing students in recognizing and responding to hypovolemia. A randomized experimental pre- and post-test research design with a process evaluation was employed. A significantly larger proportion of students in the intervention group than in the control group increased the number of correct responses in their knowledge and levels of self-confidence postintervention. As enablers for the successful implementation of the intervention, a need for a safe environment, fidelity, and learning in different roles were identified.
