Environmental Management Maturity: The Role of Dynamic Validation.
2021
Maturity models enhance the performance of companies by prescribing a trajectory through stages of increasing capability. However, a recent review of maturity models concludes that current maturity models hardly meet the design principles required for prescriptive use. To address this deficiency, we conducted semistructured interviews and a Group Model Building study with industrial companies in Spain in which we studied the progression toward a Leading Green Company as the highest maturity stage of environmental management. The findings from the study were tested using surveys with enterprises in Spain, Italy, and the United Kingdom, semistructured interviews in the United Kingdom and case…

Fractalopolis : a fractal concept for the sustainable development of metropolitean areas
2021
International audience; The debate about how to manage sustainable development on the scaleof metropolitan areas is still ongoing. Many scholars blame urban sprawl with itsconcomitant pollution and energy consumption for exacerbating traffic congestionand harming the natural environment. The present chapter develops a nuanced viewof suburbanization focusing on social demand and environmental issues. It wouldbe pointless to simply dismiss suburbanization. We show how the scaling propertiesof fractal geometry can help in designing development scenarios that optimize thespatial organization of metropolitan areas. The fractal concept meets the needs ofresidents while addressing various environme…

Measuring Effort in Subprocesses of Subtitling
2021
There has been noticeable growth in the use and production of intralingual and interlingual subtitles due to technological advances and accessibility legislation. While the reception of subtitles has been increasingly studied over the years, there are only a few empirical studies that investigate the process of subtitling. This contribution gives initial results from a study that investigates the impact of reference material during post-editing of NMT of audiovisual content via language. The focus is on transcription and translation processes, the two main subprocesses of the complex task of interlingual subtitling. Applying well-established methods from TPR, key-logging and eye tracking, t…
B-Spline Estimation in a Survey Sampling Framework
2021
Nonparametric regression models have been used more and more over the last years to model survey data and incorporate efficiently auxiliary information in order to improve the estimation of totals, means or other study parameters such as Gini index or poverty rate. B-spline nonparametric regression has the benefit of being very flexible in modeling nonlinear survey data while keeping many similarities and properties of the classical linear regression. This method proved to be efficient for deriving a unique system of weights which allowed to estimate in an efficient way and simultaneously many study parameters. Applications on real and simulated survey data showed its high efficiency. This …
Measurement of the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $D^+\to K^+^+^-^0$ with semileptonic tags
2021
Using an $e^+e^-$ annihilation data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $2.93\,\rm fb^{-1}$ collected at a center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV with the BESIII detector, the doubly Cabibbo-suppressed decay $D^+\to K^+^+^-^0$ is studied with a semileptonic tag method. After removing the decays containing narrow intermediate resonances, $D^+\to K^+$, $D^+\to K^+$, and $D^+\to K^+$, the branching fraction for the decay $D^+\to K^+^+^-^0$ is determined to be $(1.03 \pm 0.12_{\rm stat} \pm 0.06_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-3}$. The ratio of the branching fraction for $D^+\to K^+^+^-^0$ to its Cabibbo-favored counterpart $D^+\to K^-^+^+^0$ is measured to be $…

Temporary Competitive Advantage: A State‐of‐the‐Art Literature Review and Research Directions
2021
In many industries, the traditional sources of competitive advantage tend to evaporate fairly rapidly. Therefore, managers need to continually rethink and reformulate their firm strategies. Likewise, scholars have felt compelled to shift the traditional centre of attention from competitive advantage that is sustainable over time to a focus on how firms compete by achieving a series of temporary advantages. However, the proliferation of research on temporary competitive advantage, far from building a solid body of literature, has produced a series of fragmented studies. This condition calls for detecting the state of knowledge in this realm of strategic inquiry. By leveraging the present sta…

Randomized clinical trials in non-smokers and healthy patients, with at least six months follow-up, comparing periodontal probing depth, clinical attachment level, alveolar bone level and adverse events were selected by two independent investigators. The risk of bias assessment of the selected studies was evaluated by means of the Cochrane Collaboration’s Tool. Finally, a meta-a…
Social innovation in a post-conflict setting : examining external factors affecting social service NGOs
2021
While the study of the influence of external environmental factors on non-governmental organizations (NGOs) is well explored in the international development literature, the importance of these factors on NGOs’ transformative roles in a post-conflict development setting remains less understood. Nevertheless, external environmental factors could have a crucial impact on NGOs in such a context, especially when NGOs want to integrate a socially innovative approach into the social services they provide. Using survey data of staff members of social service NGOs from post-conflict Bosnia and Herzegovina (N = 120) and applying resource dependence theory, this study identifies three environmental f…

Persistence of both reversible airway obstruction and higher blood eosinophils may predict lung function decline in severe asthma.
2021
Objective: This study analysed whether the persistence of both reversible airway obstruction (RAO) and elevated BE counts was associated to reduced asthma control and accelerated lung function decline in treated severe asthmatics. Methods: About 202 severe asthmatics were studied after 12–120 months of step-5 treatment associated to anti-IgE therapy. Following treatments, reversibility tests, after inhaling 400 mcg of Salbutamol, were performed. FEV1 > 12% or ≤12% changes differentiated RAO+ from RAO− subjects. Blood eosinophil (BE) counts after treatment were considered. Results: Pre-/post-treatment bronchodilator FEV1% and ACT were lower (61% [50–71], 74.4% [62.5–83.7] and 20[18–22]), …
First xiphosuran traceway in the middle Muschelkalk facies (Middle Triassic) of the Catalan Basin (NE Iberian Peninsula)
2021
In the last decade, the first ichnoassamblages from the middle Muschelkalk facies (upper Anisian-middle Ladinian) of the Catalan Basin (NE Iberian Peninsula) have been discovered. Herein, the first xiphosuran trace fossils are described from the locality of Penya Rubí, a newly discovered ichnosite from the Catalan Basin. The finding opens a window into peri-Tethys ecosystems with coastal influence. The traceway is referred to the ichnogenus Kouphichnium, a locomotion trace attributed to xiphosurans. The traceway preserves telson grooves and different imprint morphologies from the various appendages. The traceway pattern and arrangement of the different traces suggest a crawling locomotion s…

The study of religious language in modern linguistics has opened up opportunities for various kinds of research. The object of the study is the religious vocabulary as an integral part of the religious language, which can function in various ways. Russian and Polish Christian eortonyms translation, single - and bilingual general and specialized dictionaries of Polish and Russian religious vocabulary, and works on religious language were used as the research material. Attention is drawn to the need for further research not only of the "Orthodox version" of Polish, but also of the practically unexplored "Catholic version" of the Russian religious language, since the meanings of eortonyms are …
"Lato" Tadeusza Rittnera. "Ostatnie dni starej Europy" i nowoczesny teatr uczuć
2021
This is a reassessment of the work of Tadeusz Rittner, a bilingual Polish/German writer and dramatist from Galicia who won much acclaim in the early decades of the last century. This article examines his narrative and dramatic strategies by focusing on his drama Lato (Summer), published in 1913. It is a story about a timid young man who, after hearing from his doctor that he will not live much longer, turns suddenly into a bold and shameless seducer. This could be the stuff of a conventional, farcical exposure of middle class hypocrisy, yet in Rittner’s drama it becomes a fascinating study, never far from Czekhov and Witkacy, tapping all the resources of realism, irony and grotesque to show…

Master's thesis in History (HI501) My Master thesis aims to discuss the conflicts that arose within the Norwegian school system in 1942, a time when the national socialistic party Nasjonal Samling (NS)attempted to nazify the Norwegian society through seizing control over educational establishments. In order for the indoctrination of Nazism among school children to succeed, Norwegian teachers were to be forcibly organized into the common organization, the Norwegian Teachers' Union (Norges Lærersamband). This was to ensure the party’s control over the teaching staff and the content of the education. In this thesis,I will seek to explain the conflicts that unfolded between the teaching staff a…
