—Se han evaluado los resultados de la reconstrucción del ligamento cruzado anterior (LCA) con una plastia mixta de tendón del semitendinoso y fibra sintética de KennedyLAD en veinticinco pacientes con un mínimo de dos años de seguimiento postoperatorio (media de treinta y ocho meses). Par­ ticipation was 97%, being 582 subjects (M = 287, F = 295). In a door-to-door survey conducted in two municipalities of Sicily, we ascertained the prevalence of diabetic neuropathy. Our case-finding was restricted to subjects with somatic symptoms. During phase 1, we administered a screening instrument for peripheral neuropathy to 14,540 persons residing in Santa Teresa di Riva (Messina Province) and Terrasini (Palermo Province). Effect of Color on Contrast Sensitivity with Two Different Accommodative Stimuli

We studied the influence of color and accommodation on the contrast sensitivity function (CSF). At the same time, we measured the effect of axial chromatic aberration (ACA) on the CSF. The CSF's of two observers were determined using red, green, blue, and white light, at 5- and 0.5-m viewing distances. At 5 m the CSF's were measured with natural vision and also with lenses which compensated the ACA. Results show that the effect of ACA on the CSF is to reduce the sensitivity to blue with respect to the red. We have pointed out that the history of the giraffe’s neck served as an example to explain the theoretical concepts of transformism, proposed by J.-B. Lamarck, and of Darwin’s natural selection. However, at that time it had not been substantiated by palaeontological data. To evaluate the usefulness of the captopril test for identifying renal artery stenosis (RAS) and renovascular hypoplasia (RAH), we studied 48 hypertensive patients. In 20 hypertensives with screening procedures indicating renovascular disease and in 28 essential hypertensives (EH), the plasma renin activity (PRA) responses to an oral test dose of captopril (50 mg) were studied. En este trabajo se valoran retrospectivamente un grupo de 15 pacientes, con edades superiores a los 6 años, afectos de luxación congenita inveterada y que fueron intervenidos (16 caderas) mediante la técnica de Klisic. El tiempo medio de seguimiento fue de 4 años. En 12 caderas se habían realizado previamente distintas técnicas quirúrgicas sin obtener resultados satisfactorios.
