Large-Scale Synthesis of Mammalian Gonadoliberin without protection of side-chain functions

1991

A simple, Large-scale preparation of mammalian gonadoliberin was elaborated using classical solution methods without protecting side-chain functions. At the final stage, a hexapeptide segment was condensed with the corresponding tetrapeptide and the obtained decapeptide was purified by a single chromatographic procedure on silica gel. The total efficiency of the whole synthesis and the purity of the product amounted to 34% and 98.3%, respectively.

Statistical analysis of noise levels in urban areas

Abstract Environmental noise measurements have been carried out during recent years in different cities and locations of Spain. The noise levels have been continuously sampled over 24 h periods using a noise level analyzer. The data contained in this paper represent a total of 4200 measurement hours. All the information has been used to investigate the time patterns of the noise levels under a wide range of different conditions and to study the relationships between several noise descriptors in urban areas.

Cloning and sequencing of RCS1, Saccharomyces cerevisiae gene whose product seems to be involved in timing the budding event of the cell cycle, is described. A haploid strain in which the 3'-terminal region of the chromosomal copy of the gene has been disrupted produces cells that are, on average, twice the size of cells of the parental strain. The critical size for budding in the mutant is similarly increased, and the disruption mutation is dominant in a diploid heterozygous for the RCS1 gene. Spores from this diploid have a reduced ability to germinate, the effect being more pronounced in the spores carrying the disrupted copy of RCS1. Fracturas de Astrágalo: Evaluación Clínico-Quirúrgica

Se han revisado 13 pacientes diagnosticados de fractura de astrágalo recogidos en nuestro Servicio de Urgencias y tratados quirúrgicamente en todos los casos. De ellos se ha realizado un seguimiento clínico y radiológico. En el 46% de los casos se obtuvieron resultados satisfactorios (23% excelentes y 23% buenos). Los restantes se repartieron entre regulares (38%) y malos (16%). La necrosis avascular apareció en 3 de los 13 casos, discutiéndose el origen de esta seria complicación. The postural sway of subjects during standing both with their eyes open and closed together with maximum velocity of walking were analysed in six male chronic hemiplegic patients before, during and after an intensive movement training programme lasting 8 weeks. The movement training programme was carried out on the basis of Bobath's principles. Stochastic linearization for the response of MDOF systems subjected to external and parametric Gaussian excitations

The stochastic linearization approach is examined for the most general case of non zero-mean response of non-linear MDOF systems subjected to parametric and external Gaussian white excitations. It is shown that, for these systems too, stochastic linearization and Gaussian closure are two equivalent approaches if the former is applied to the coefficients of the Ito differential rule. Moreover, an extension of the Atalik-Utku approach to non zero-mean response systems allows to obtain simple formulations for the linearized drift coefficients. Some applications show the good accuracy of the method.

Se presentan 39 casos de quistes poplíteos estudiados mediante ultrasonografía durante los últimos 5 años en el Hospital Clínico de Valencia. Se discute acerca de la utilidad de la ecografía de partes blandas en el diagnóstico de las patologías del hueco poplíteo, haciendo hincapié en sus ventajas respecto a otras técnicas más costosas e invasivas. The authors report 39 cases of popliteal's cysts diagnosed with ultrasonography along the last five years in the Hospital Clínico of Valencia. They argue about the usefulness of ultrasonography of soft-tissues in the diagnosis of popliteal pathologies, urging on his advantages over other techniques more aggresive and expensive.

Dies zeigen deutlich Skinners Ergebnisse mit dem Kock-Pouch [5], wobei hier ausschlieslich die Probleme am Kontinenznippel, also am efferenten Nippel, aufgefuhrt sind. In 1989, the prevalence of IgG antibodies to pertussis toxin (PT) in a sample of 367 unvaccinated apparently healthy children 5-14 years old was estimated by ELISA in Kumba City (Cameroon). Children were recruited using a systematic random sampling from six primary schools located in different districts of the city. The sample was representative of the various socioeconomic classes.
