We set out to study connected porosity of crystalline rock using X‐ray microtomography and scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy (SEM‐EDS) with caesium chloride as a contrast agent. Caesium is an important radionuclide regarding the final deposition of nuclear waste and also forms dense phases that can be readily distinguished by X‐ray microtomography and SEM‐EDS. The engagement of auditors in the reporting of corporate social responsibility disclosure

In this research, we aim to examine how large auditing firms and audit/non‐audit fees affect corporate social responsibility (CSR) disclosure. We show that the big four auditing firms and the audit and non‐audit fees paid by audited firms encourage CSR reporting. Overall, our findings suggest that big auditing firms play a relevant role in CSR disclosure, which may help to mitigate informative asymmetries between managers and stakeholders. Furthermore, audit and non‐audit fees paid by audited companies promote voluntary non‐financial information disclosure. This chapter is a theoretical exploration of Joseph Goguen’s category-theoretic model of conceptual blending and presents an alternative proposal to model blending as amalgams, which were originally proposed as a method for knowledge transfer in case-based reasoning. The chapter concludes with a generalisation of the amalgam-based model by relating it to the notion of colimit, thus providing a category-theoretic characterisation of amalgams that is ultimately computationally realisable.

In this respect, technology as an historical process, ending up in a set of objects and practices, affords a worthwhile ground for developing such world-oriented philosophical reflections. This paper provides a survey of this philosophical landscape with a special emphasis on the pro-eminent role of Francois Dagognet who pioneered a material and object philosophy in France.

Objective Recent preliminary studies indicated a seasonal association of BMI at admission to inpatient treatment for anorexia nervosa (AN), indicating lower BMI in the cold season for restrictive AN. An impaired thermoregulation was proposed as the causal factor, based on findings in animal models of AN. An efficient protocol for the synthesis of trans-disubstituted-2,3-dihydrobenzofurans through [4 + 1] annulation of para-quinone methides with sulfonium salts has been developed. Under very mild conditions this unprecedented reaction occurs in good to excellent yields (up to 99%), offering a straightforward access to a variety of 2,3-dihydrobenzofurans.
