Exploring working conditions as determinants of job satisfaction: an empirical test among Catalonia service workers

Job satisfaction is particularly important in the service industries since it involves direct contact with customers and thus has a direct influence on company performance. This paper analyses the impact of 10 working conditions on job satisfaction by means of structural equation modeling in a representative stratified random sample of 1553 service sector employees in Catalonia, Spain. Significant effects in social aspects (recognition of a job well done and social support) were found, followed by psychological loads (emotional demands and job insecurity) and by task contents (development and meaning, and predictability). These variables explained 50% of the variance in job satisfaction.

Abstract This article contains intensity and aversiveness ratings of electrical stimuli and data on electrodermal activity (skin conductance level and skin conductance response) during an implicit conditioning procedure. Further, answers from a questionnaire on contingency awareness are provided. The experiment consisted of three phases. In the acquisition, two types of visual stimuli (CS+ and CS-) were coupled to weakly and moderately painful electrical stimuli presented to the participants’ (N = 48) dominant hand. The aim of the paper is to understand how the inclusion of more and more time-scales into a stochastic stationary Markovian process affects its conditional probability. To this end, we consider two Gaussian processes: (i) a short-range correlated process with an infinite set of time-scales bounded from below, and (ii) a power-law correlated process with an infinite and unbounded set of time-scales. Thermodynamically consistent residual-based gradient plasticity theory and comparison

A gradient plasticity theory for small deformations is presented within the framework of nonlocal continuum thermodynamics. The second principle (Clausius–Duhem inequality), enriched by an additional term named energy residual, is employed in conjunction with the concepts of insulation condition and locality recovery condition, in order to derive all the pertinent restrictions upon the constitutive equations. This Data in Brief (DiB) article examines the association between the Job Demand-Control (JDC) model of stress and traffic safety outcomes (accidents and sanctions) in public transport drivers (n = 780). A Parametric Dirichlet Problem for Systems of Quasilinear Elliptic Equations With Gradient Dependence

The aim of this article is to study the Dirichlet boundary value problem for systems of equations involving the (pi, qi) -Laplacian operators and parameters μi≥0 (i = 1,2) in the principal part. Another main point is that the nonlinearities in the reaction terms are allowed to depend on both the solution and its gradient. We prove results ensuring existence, uniqueness, and asymptotic behavior with respect to the parameters.

Comparison of Hybrid Blends for Solar Cell Application

In blended hybrid systems distinct micro- or nanostructured materials can be formed by phase separation. Network structures of particles or rods in a polymer matrix can be developed via self-assembly. We use this blending approach to compare active materials for application in solar cell devices. Blends were fabricated from either poly(hexylthiophene) P3HT or poly(triphenylamine) PTPA mixed with nanocrystalline TiO 2 rods. In this manner, we compare two different hole conducting polymers in their performance in photovoltaic devices, while experimental conditions are kept identical. Probabilistic interpretation of the Calderón problem

In this paper, we use the theory of symmetric Dirichlet forms to give a probabilistic interpretation of Calderon's inverse conductivity problem in terms of reflecting diffusion processes and their corresponding boundary trace processes. This probabilistic interpretation comes in three equivalent formulations which open up novel perspectives on the classical question of unique determinability of conductivities from boundary data. We aim to make this work accessible to both readers with a background in stochastic process theory as well as researchers working on deterministic methods in inverse problems.

Variable exponent p(x)-Kirchhoff type problem with convection

Abstract We study a nonlinear p ( x ) -Kirchhoff type problem with Dirichlet boundary condition, in the case of a reaction term depending also on the gradient (convection). Using a topological approach based on the Galerkin method, we discuss the existence of two notions of solutions: strong generalized solution and weak solution. Strengthening the bound on the Kirchhoff type term (positivity condition), we establish existence of weak solution, this time using the theory of operators of monotone type.
