TNFSF14 (LIGHT) Exhibits Inflammatory Activities in Lung Fibroblasts Complementary to IL-13 and TGF-β

2018

The cytokine TNFSF14 [homologous to Lymphotoxin, exhibits Inducible expression and competes with HSV Glycoprotein D for binding to HVEM, a receptor expressed on T lymphocytes (LIGHT)] has been shown in mouse models to be important for development of lung tissue remodeling that is characteristic of asthma, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), and systemic sclerosis (SSc). However, its cellular targets are not fully delineated. In the present report, we show that LTβR and HVEM, the receptors for LIGHT, are constitutively expressed in primary human lung fibroblasts (HLFs). We asked whether LIGHT could promote inflammatory and remodeling-relevant activity in HLFs and how this was similar to, or…

Tissue microenvironment dictates the fate and tumor-suppressive function of type 3 ILCs

2017

Nussbaum et al. found that tumor suppression through innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) cannot be predicted solely based on the ILC phenotype and lineage but that their immune properties are shaped both by their ontogeny and by the tissue microenvironment they reside in.

STRIPAK Members Orchestrate Hippo and Insulin Receptor Signaling to Promote Neural Stem Cell Reactivation

2019

Summary Adult stem cells reactivate from quiescence to maintain tissue homeostasis and in response to injury. How the underlying regulatory signals are integrated is largely unknown. Drosophila neural stem cells (NSCs) also leave quiescence to generate adult neurons and glia, a process that is dependent on Hippo signaling inhibition and activation of the insulin-like receptor (InR)/PI3K/Akt cascade. We performed a transcriptome analysis of individual quiescent and reactivating NSCs harvested directly from Drosophila brains and identified the conserved STRIPAK complex members mob4, cka, and PP2A (microtubule star, mts). We show that PP2A/Mts phosphatase, with its regulatory subunit Widerbors…

Democratic Principles and the Economic Branch of the European Monetary Union

2017

Sharing cultural knowledge at work: a study of chat interactions of an internationally dispersed team

2015

Eight-membered heterocycles with two heteroatoms in a 1,5-relationship of interest in medicinal chemistry

2020

Abstract This review deals with 1,5-diheterocines that exhibited biological properties and covers comprehensively the literature from 2007 to the end of February 2019. Among the six possible heterocyclic systems belonging to the eight-membered rings with two heteroatoms, N, O, and S, five had derivatives showing pharmacological activities: 1,5-diazocines, 1,5-oxazocines, 1,5-thiazocines, 1,5-dioxocins, and 1,5-dithiocins. Instead, literature reported no articles dealing with 1,5-oxathiocins of interest in medicinal chemistry. In addition to uncondensed derivatives, 1,5-diheterocines fused to five- and six-membered carbocycles or heterocycles are covered. Bridged 1,5-diheterocines are covere…

Screening individual ability to perform descriptive analysis of food products : basic statements and application to a camembert cheese descriptive pa…

1995

A battery of sensory tests is proposed to select potential descriptive panelists. This set of tests is flavor specific. Several abilities are examined: odor and taste recognition, odor memory, discrimination and descriptive capacities. A detailed example of such a battery to select a Camembert cheese descriptive panel is given. The objectives of each test are discussed. Stimuli are chosen to be consistent with the sensory properties which can be perceived in cheese. Score distributions demonstrate the discrimination among candidates for each test. Globally, results show the difficulty to find 20 panelists amongst about a hundred with good scores on each test. The panel leader has to choose …

2018

The article 7.3 of the law 14/2006, of May 26 on technologies of human assisted reproduction establishes the possibility of determining legally the double maternity of married women and not separated legally or of fact, when the not biological mother consents that filiation decides to his favor the respect of the born son of his spouse. In the suppositions not regulated in the mentioned rule the Supreme Court in relation with equal women?s homosexuality in judgment of December 5, 2013 and January 15, 2014 applies the civil code and allows to determine judicially the maternity by means of the exercise of an action of claim for possession of status foreseen in the article 131.
