Ferromagnetic coupling through spin polarization in the hexanuclear [MnII(3)CuII(3)] complex.
2004
A novel Cu(II)-Mn(II) hexanuclear complex of formula [[MnCuL](3)(tma)](ClO(4))(3).8H(2)O [H(2)L = macrocyclic Robson proligand; H(3)tma = trimesic acid] has been obtained by connecting three heterobinuclear [Cu(II)Mn(II)L](2+) cationic species through the trimesate anion. The complex exhibits a C(3) rotational symmetry, imposed by the geometry of the bridging ligand. The interaction within each Mn(II)-Cu(II) pair is antiferromagnetic (J = -16.7 cm(-1)). A weak ferromagnetic coupling among the three S = 2 resulting spins through the tricarboxylato bridge leads to a S = 6 ground spin state, for which the spin polarization mechanism is responsible.
Multifunctional magnetic materials obtained by insertion of spin-crossover Fe(III) complexes into chiral 3D bimetallic oxalate-based ferromagnets.
2011
The syntheses, structures, and magnetic properties of compounds of formula [Fe(III)(5-Clsal(2)-trien)][Mn(II)Cr(III)(ox)(3)]·0.5(CH(3)NO(2)) (1), [Fe(III)(5-Brsal(2)-trien)][Mn(II)Cr(III)(ox)(3)] (2), and [In(III)(5-Clsal(2)-trien)][Mn(II)Cr(III)(ox)(3)] (3) are reported. The structure of the three compounds, which crystallize in the orthorhombic P2(1)2(1)2(1) chiral space group, presents a 3D chiral anionic network formed by Mn(II) and Cr(III) ions linked through oxalate ligands with inserted [Fe(III)(5-Clsal(2)-trien)](+), [Fe(III)(5-Brsal(2)-trien)](+), and [In(III)(5-Clsal(2)-trien)](+) cations. The magnetic properties indicate that the three compounds undergo long-range ferromagnetic o…
Synthesis, Structure, and Magnetic Properties of the Oxalate-Based Bimetallic Ferromagnetic Chain {[K(18-crown-6)][Mn(H2O)2Cr(ox)3]}∞ (18-crown-6 = C…
2005
The salt [K(18-crown-6)][Mn(H2O)2Cr(ox)3]·0.5(18-crown-6) (1) has been prepared and structurally and magnetically characterized. It crystallizes in the P21/c space group [a = 21.011(2) A, b = 11.265(2) A, c = 15.748(3) A, β = 105.952(6)°, V = 3584(1) A3, and Z = 4] and contains [Mn(H2O)2Cr(ox)3]∞ chains connected through hydrogen bonding to form 2D anionic networks. The magnetic exchange is ferromagnetic [J = +2.23(2) cm-1] in the chain and also in between chains, reaching bulk ferromagnetic ordering below 3.5 K.
A Discrete μ 4 ‐Oxido Tetranuclear Iron(III) Cluster
2012
Reaction of a Schiff base ligand derived from salicyloyl hydrazide and diacetyl monooxime (H2L) with a triangular μ3-oxido-centered [Fe3(μ3-O)]7+ core yields a new tetranuclear iron(III) complex. FeIII4(μ4-O) crystallizes in the triclinic space group P. Structural studies reveal that this tetranuclear iron(III) complex is a new structure type of an uncharged (alkoxido)(oxido)iron(III) cluster in which the four iron(III) ions are located at the corners of a distorted tetrahedron. A study of the magnetic properties supports the presence of antiferromagnetic interactions through the central μ4-oxido ion as well as the μ2-methoxy groups present, giving an an S = 0 ground state. Mossbauer spectr…
[MIII(bpym)(CN)4]−: a suitable building block to design ferrimagnetic cyano-bridged heterobimetallic chains (M = Fe, Cr; bpym = 2,2′-bypyrimidine)
2008
Two cyano-bridged M(III)Mn(III) [M = Fe () and Cr ()] ferrimagnetic chains are reported; exhibits metamagnetism with two critical fields of 1250 G and 2.0 T which correspond to the overcoming by the applied dc field of the inter- and intrachain magnetic interactions, respectively.
( n -Bu 4 N) 2 [Fe(dcbdt) 2 ] 2 . Synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic characterisation
2003
Abstract The ( n -Bu 4 N) 2 [Fe(dcbdt) 2 ] 2 complex, where 4,5-dicyanobenzene-1,2-dithiolate (dcbdt), was prepared and characterised by X-ray diffraction, Mossbauer spectroscopy and magnetisation measurements. The crystal structure as determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction is triclinic, space group P 1 with cell parameters a =9.5660(1) A, b =13.0200(2) A, c =16.0850(2) A, α =67.554°(1), β =86.797°(1), γ =70.523°(1), V =1738.77(4) A 3 and it consists in strongly dimerised [Fe(dcbdt) 2 ] − units, which are stacked side by side as chains along a . The magnetic susceptibility shows that the [Fe(dcbdt) 2 ] − units have a low spin S =1/2 configuration and, besides a strong intradimer ant…
X-Ray structure of [ReCl4(μ-ox)Cu(pyim)2]: a new heterobimetallic ReIVCuIIferrimagnetic chain
2008
A new heterobimetallic Re(IV)Cu(II) compound has been prepared and its crystal structure determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction; magnetic susceptibility measurements show that this compound behaves as a ferrimagnetic chain with significant antiferromagnetic interactions between Re(IV) and Cu(II) metal ions.
