Portable microwave assisted extraction: An original concept for green analytical chemistry.
2013
International audience; This paper describes a portable microwave assisted extraction apparatus (PMAE) for extraction of bioac-tive compounds especially essential oils and aromas directly in a crop or in a forest. The developed procedure, based on the concept of green analytical chemistry, is appropriate to obtain direct in-field information about the level of essential oils in natural samples and to illustrate green chemical lesson and research. The efficiency of this experiment was validated for the extraction of essential oil of rosemary directly in a crop and allows obtaining a quantitative information on the content of essential oil, which was similar to that obtained by conventional m…
ChemInform Abstract: Microwave-Assisted Synthesis of Polysubstituted 4-Quinolones from Deprotonated α-Aminonitriles.
2011
The α-alkylations of deprotonated Strecker products such as (I) or (V) give a series of intermediates such as (III), (VI), or (X), which undergo microwave-assisted HCN and EtOH eliminations leading to the title quinolones (IV), (VII)/(VIII), or (XI).
Rapid microwave assisted hydrolysis of formetanate
1993
Abstract A fast microwave-assisted hydrolysis procedure has been developed for the derivatization of formetanate previously to the flow-injection spectrophotometric determination of m -aminophenol by reaction with p -aminophenol. Formetanate is quantitatively hydrolyzed with 0.1 M NaOH in 150 s using a closed polyetrafluoroethylene reactor with 115 ml internal volume and a radiation power of 390 W. The above procedure has been applied, as a previous step, for the flow-injection spectrophotometric determination of formetanate in spiked water samples and accurate and precise results have been found. The method permits to obtain a limit of detection of 0.025 mg 1 −1 of formetanate. The relativ…
Microwave-assisted synthesis of PHEA-oligoamine copolymers as potential gene delivery systems
2009
Aims - Copolymers bearing oligoamines and having buffering capacity in the endosomal pH range seems very promising as non viral vectors in gene delivery, due to the great importance of endosomal escaping for an efficient endocellular DNA release. Aim of this paper was to prepare new copolymers based on α,β-poly-(N-2-hydroxyethyl)-D,L-aspartamide (PHEA) as polymeric backbone and bearing an oligoamine, such as diethylentriamine (DETA) in the side chain and useful for gene delivery. Moreover in order to reduce solvent volume and to make faster the reaction, microwave-assisted has been used. Materials and methods - PHEA copolymers bearing different amount of DETA were prepared by using bis(4-ni…
ChemInform Abstract: Microwave-Assisted Synthesis of 1,3-Disubstituted β-Carbolines from α-(Alkylideneamino)nitriles and Gramine.
2012
The title reaction produces indole derivatives of type (V) whose cyclization leads to formation of the desired alkaloid skeletons.
One pot microwave assisted synthesis of bisphosphonate alkene capped gold nanoparticles
2014
International audience; A new synthetic pathway for the direct synthesis of water soluble gold nanoparticles (GNPs) already possessing terminal alkene functional groups was developed. This is achieved by using synthesized (1-hydroxy-1-phosphonopent-4-enyl)phosphonic acid (HMBPene), presenting advantages of the well known bisphosphonate coating applied to colloidal gold instead of metal oxides. The proposed protocol allowed an accurate control of the particle size in the 13–20 nm diameter range with a high spherical uniformity, which is a crucial point for these colloids' properties. We have shown that it is possible to synthesize a functionalized nanoplatform in a one-pot one-phase process …
Recent Progress of Microwave-Assisted Synthesis of Silica Materials.
2020
Microwaves are a source of energy of great interest for chemical synthesis. Among nanomaterials, few are as versatile as silica—it forms mesoporous materials and nanoparticles, it can be incorporated as shells or loaded in composites, it can also be functionalized. Despite the relevant properties of silica, and the advantages of the use of microwave as energy source, its use in silica-based materials is not frequent. We report herein a compilation of the research results published in the last 10 years of microwave assisted synthesis of silica based materials. This review includes examples of mesoporous materials for waste removal, catalysis, drug release, and gas adsorption applications, to…
Microwave-Assisted Synthesis of Covalent OrganicFrameworks: A Review
2020
[EN] Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are relatively recent materials. They have received great attention due to their interesting properties. However, the application of microwaves in their synthesis, despite its advantages such as faster and more reproducible processes, is a minority. Herein, a comprehensive compilation of the research results published in the microwave-assisted synthesis (MAS) of COFs is presented. This review includes articles of 2D and 3D COFs prepared using microwaves as source of energy. The articles have been classified depending on the functional groups including boronate ester, imines, enamines, azines, and triazines, among others. It compiles the main parameter…
Direct determination by portable ED-XRF of mineral profile in cocoa powder samples
2019
Abstract The present study has exploited the rapidity of the analysis and the multi-elemental capability of the energy dispersive X- ray fluorescence (ED-XRF) technique for the mineral profile determination in cocoa powder. A fast, cheap and environmental sustainable method without reagent consumption or toxic waste generation has been proposed. The samples can be prepared in the form of pellets of 13 mm in diameter and 2–3 mm thickness. The different internal calibrations used by ED-XRF equipment did not provide accurate results when comparing the mineral profile with the concentration obtained by Inductively Couple Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES) after microwave assisted di…
Drying rate control in microwave assisted processing of sliced apples
2018
The most enhanced microwave systems for the preparation of quality-dehydrated fruits continuously adjust the power level in order to maintain the product temperature above a target value. As a result, typical drying curves that exhibit high drying rates in the middle stage are obtained. This can often lead to quality damage or undesirable changes on food colour and texture. In response to these issues, a microwave system is proposed that can realise drying processes keeping drying rates constant. This approach required a continuous temperature adjustment of the apple slices under test, whose temperature was detected by a computer-aided infrared thermography system. Since temperature correct…
