This article offers an overview of some advances in cognitive and psycholinguistic approaches to translation and interpreting process research between 2006 and 2013, in order to provide context to the contributions to this volume. It provides some figures on publications and initiatives and then focuses on competence and expertise; writing; mental load and linguistic complexity; advances in research methods; revision and metacognition; cognition beyond conscious, rational thought; and recontextualized empirical research. The article closes with some notes on the overall tendencies in the area, in the sample of contributions, and in publishing.

The publication in the European Union of Directive 2010/64/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 October 2010 on the right to interpretation and translation in criminal proceedings has been a turning point in a great number of aspects related to court and police interpretation. The main objective of the Directive is to ensure quality legal interpretation throughout the process, as part of the right to defence and to a fair trial. Maģistra darbs „Mutiskā tulkošana evaņģēliskajās draudzēs ar dievkalpojumiem krievu valodā” izstrādāts 2017. gada pavasarī. Mutiskās tulkošanas nozares pētniekus arvien vairāk interesē dažādu tulkošanas situāciju pētniecība. Taču mutiskā tulkošana draudzēs, neskatoties uz tās vēsturisko nozīmi tulkošanas jomā, arvien palikusi novārtā. Šī darba autore, draudzes tulks ar 25 gadu stāžu, vēlās pievērst uzmanību šai savas kompetences jomai, mutiskajai tulkošanai evaņģēliskajās draudzēs ar dievkalpojumiem krievu valodā, un izveidot „ideālā” draudzes tulka portretu, balstoties uz klientu vēlmēm. Darba tēma ir “Tulkošanas stratēģiju pielietojums tulkojot no vācu valodas uz latviešu valodu”. Darba mērķis ir raksturot sinhronās tulkošanas stratēģijas, īpašu uzmanību pievēršot anticipācijas jautājumiem un aprakstīt ar šo stratēģiju saistītās problēmas, tulkojot no vācu valodas uz latviešu valodu. Maģistra darba pētnieciskajā daļā, pielietojot kontrastīvo analīzes metodi, tiek analizētas trīs Eiropas Parlamenta plenārsēžu runas vācu valodā un to latviskais tulkojums. Pētījumā tiek analizēts un raksturots tulkošanas stratēģiju pielietojums norādot piemērus no veiktajiem runu tulkojumiem. Secinājumos tiek norādīta iespējamā likumsakarība tulkošanas stratēģiju pielietojumā.
Humora tulkošanas stratēģijas teorijā un praksē

Šī darba mērķis ir pētīt humora sinhronas tulkošanas stratēģijas Eiropas Parlamenta plenārsēdēs. Darba pirmā nodaļa sniedz ieskatu humora vēsturē, aplūko humora uzbūvi un starptautiskās konferencēs biežāk izmantotos humora veidus, kā arī nozīmīgākās humora pētniecības teorijas. Darba otrajā daļā autore apraksta sinhronās tulkošanas stratēģijas, kā arī faktorus, kas ietekmē vārdspēles tulkošanu. Empīriskajā daļā salīdzinošā analīzē tiek pētītas pielietotās humora sinhronās tulkošanas taktikas latviešu un igauņu valodās. La street art è un fenomeno capillare che si dispiega negli spazi urbani con stili e forme diverse. L’intervento prende in esame alcune operazioni artistiche analizzando le strategie retoriche utilizzate. Ricorrendo a diversi regimi di visibilità e utilizzando l’apostrofe, l’iperbole o ancora il camouflage gli artisti creano narrazioni imprevedibili e sollecitano continuamente l’attenzione del fruitore. Gli interventi di street art possono così considerarsi come campi di manovra che instaurano nello spazio urbano conflitti, sfide o complicità con i fruitori e in tal senso si rivela opportuno soffermarsi sui casi di riscrittura o di cancellazione delle opere.
