The notion of (non)contextuality pertains to sets of properties measured one subset (context) at a time. A quasiconformal composition problem for the Q-spaces

Given a quasiconformal mapping $f:\mathbb R^n\to\mathbb R^n$ with $n\ge2$, we show that (un-)boundedness of the composition operator ${\bf C}_f$ on the spaces $Q_{\alpha}(\mathbb R^n)$ depends on the index $\alpha$ and the degeneracy set of the Jacobian $J_f$. We establish sharp results in terms of the index $\alpha$ and the local/global self-similar Minkowski dimension of the degeneracy set of $J_f$. This gives a solution to [Problem 8.4, 3] and also reveals a completely new phenomenon, which is totally different from the known results for Sobolev, BMO, Triebel-Lizorkin and Besov spaces. Distortion of quasiconformal maps in terms of the quasihyperbolic metric

Abstract We extend a theorem of Gehring and Osgood from 1979–relating to the distortion of the quasihyperbolic metric by a quasiconformal mapping between Euclidean domains–to the setting of metric measure spaces of Q -bounded geometry. When the underlying target space is bounded, we require that the boundary of the image has at least two points. We show that even in the manifold setting, this additional assumption is necessary.

Contextuality Analysis of the Double Slit Experiment (With a Glimpse Into Three Slits)

The Contextuality-by-Default theory is illustrated on contextuality analysis of the idealized double-slit experiment. The experiment is described by a system of contextually labeled binary random variables each of which answers the question: has the particle hit the detector, having passed through a given slit (left or right) in a given state (open or closed)? This system of random variables is a cyclic system of rank 4, formally the same as the system describing the EPR/Bell paradigm with signaling. Representation of solutions and large-time behavior for fully nonlocal diffusion equations

Abstract We study the Cauchy problem for a nonlocal heat equation, which is of fractional order both in space and time. We prove four main theorems: (i) a representation formula for classical solutions, (ii) a quantitative decay rate at which the solution tends to the fundamental solution, (iii) optimal L 2 -decay of mild solutions in all dimensions, (iv) L 2 -decay of weak solutions via energy methods. The first result relies on a delicate analysis of the definition of classical solutions. L∞ estimates in optimal mass transportation

We show that in any complete metric space the probability measures μ with compact and connected support are the ones having the property that the optimal transportation distance to any other probability measure ν living on the support of μ is bounded below by a positive function of the L∞ transportation distance between μ and ν. The function giving the lower bound depends only on the lower bound of the μ-measures of balls centered at the support of μ and on the cost function used in the optimal transport. Gradient Estimate for Solutions to Poisson Equations in Metric Measure Spaces

Let $(X,d)$ be a complete, pathwise connected metric measure space with locally Ahlfors $Q$-regular measure $\mu$, where $Q>1$. Suppose that $(X,d,\mu)$ supports a (local) $(1,2)$-Poincar\'e inequality and a suitable curvature lower bound. For the Poisson equation $\Delta u=f$ on $(X,d,\mu)$, Moser-Trudinger and Sobolev inequalities are established for the gradient of $u$. The local H\"older continuity with optimal exponent of solutions is obtained.

Stochastic order characterization of uniform integrability and tightness

We show that a family of random variables is uniformly integrable if and only if it is stochastically bounded in the increasing convex order by an integrable random variable. This result is complemented by proving analogous statements for the strong stochastic order and for power-integrable dominating random variables. Especially, we show that whenever a family of random variables is stochastically bounded by a p-integrable random variable for some p>1, there is no distinction between the strong order and the increasing convex order. These results also yield new characterizations of relative compactness in Wasserstein and Prohorov metrics.

p-harmonic coordinates for Hölder metrics and applications

We show that on any Riemannian manifold with H¨older continuous metric tensor, there exists a p-harmonic coordinate system near any point. When p = n this leads to a useful gauge condition for regularity results in conformal geometry. As applications, we show that any conformal mapping between manifolds having C α metric tensors is C 1+α regular, and that a manifold with W1,n ∩ C α metric tensor and with vanishing Weyl tensor is locally conformally flat if n ≥ 4. The results extend the works [LS14, LS15] from the case of C 1+α metrics to the H¨older continuous case. In an appendix, we also develop some regularity results for overdetermined elliptic systems in divergence form. peerReviewed
