The effect of pion exchange currents in the process νμ + d → μ− +p + p is estimated using realistic wave functions for the deuteron and closure over the final dinucleon states. Its implications on the determination of axial vector form factor FA(q2) are discussed.

Abstract The average degree of condensation of ethylene oxide/tert-octylphenol condensate surfactants can be estimated rapidly by u.v. and i.r. spectrometry. The u.v. method is based on evaluating the specific absorptivity, a , at 275 nm in aqueous ethanol (60:40 v/v), and inserting this value in equations obtained from previously characterized samples, relating a to the average properties to be determined. Resume Dans le contexte de la reaction endocrinienne et metabolique a l'anesthesie et a la chirurgie, les effets de l'isoflurane sur l'axe hypothalamohypophysocorticosurrenalien et le systeme hypothalamothyroidien ont ete etudies. L'ACTH, le cortisol, la TSH, la T3, la T4 et la prolactine ont ete doses chez 16 patients avant et au cours de l'intervention chirurgicale sous anesthesie avec isoflurane. Hepatitis A-like non-A, non-B hepatitis: light and electron microscopic observations of three cases.

To date, three types of NANBH have been distinguished by epidemiological, clinical and experimental data. We examined the liver biopsies of three patients with an acute NANBH resembling hepatitis A from the infection route, incubation period and clinical course. The liver biopsies revealed lesions with a portal and periportal predominance, thus also exhibiting parallels with hepatitis A on the histopathological level.

Expression of Ia-antigens on guinea pig Kupffer cells

Summary The expression of the Ia-antigen on guinea pig Kupffer cells was studied employing two monoclonal antibodies against two different determinants of the Ia-molecule. The study was performed in situ on liver sections and on isolated highly purified Kupffer cells kept in culture up to 6 days. The influence of guinea pig hepatocyte culture supernatant and of supernatants of phytohemoagglutinin (PHA)-stimulated human peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) on the Ia expression was measured.
