The viscoelastic behavior of nylon 6/lithium halides mixtures

Stress-relaxation experiments in the limit of small deformations have been carried out in a wide range of temperatures for pure nylon 6 and its mixtures with LiBr and/or LiCl. Master curves have been constructed, by allowing horizontal shifts only, showing the shape typical for semicrystalline polymers in the case of pure nylon and that of essentially amorphous polymers in the case of salted samples. The glass transition temperatures determined from the plot logaT− 1/T is increased when in the presence of salts. All such effects are considered to reflect the binding action of Li+ and Br− ions.

Hg- compound ion states formed by electron impact with neutral mercury atoms at collision energies of 4.55, 4.71, 4.94, and 5.51 eV show up in the 2S1/2, 2D3/2, 2D5/2, and 2D5/2 scattering states in order of increasing energy. This identification is supported by the observed energy dependence of (i) elastic (e-, Hg) differential cross section, of (ii) 63P0 excitation of mercury by electron impact, and of (iii) spin polarization of electrons scattered elastically from mercury.

To investigate the possible role of circulatory levels of prolactin on the development of prostatic tumors, and to gain insight into the prolactin-androgen relationship, serum prolactin and testosterone were determined in 73 patients with newly diagnosed prostatic adenocarcinoma. Controls consisted of 32 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia before treatment, 19 age-matched controls, and 21 young individuals. Hormones were measured under standardized conditions by highly specific and sensitive radioimmunoassays. Summary Cells of Chlorella fusca, were grown in liquid medium supplemented ,vith O.2% glucose and varied concentrations of vanadium both at 5 different light intensities and in the dark. \Vith increasing concentrations of vanadium the content of chlorophyll, P-700 and cytochrome f increased as well, each, however, in a different way. At the saturating concentration of 20 µg vanadium per litre the pigment content per dry weight was double as high as that of the vanadium-free control; the ratio of chlorophyll a/chlorophyll b increased from 2.1 to 2.9.
