Unsubtracted dispersion-relation for longitudinal compton amplitude

Abstract It is shown that there is a simple connection between the slope, at q2 = 0, of the longitudinal Compton amplitude and the electric polarizability of the nucleon. The longitudinal subtraction function is thus known to order q2. The assumption of an unsubtracted dispersion relation for the longitudinal amplitude leads to a sum rule for the electric polarizability. This is a model independent test of the high-energy behaviour of the forward virtual Compton amplitude.

A device is described which permits to obtain a signal at the beginning of in- or expiration respectively. This signal may be used to trigger an electrical stimulator. To permit studies at different states of lung inflation the tracheal cannula is connected to a spirometer circuit. To produce constant positive or negative air pressure this bellows-type spirometer is loaded with exchangeable metal weights. The tracheal pressure is recorded by means of a pressure transducer, the output of which is taken as signal. The device allows accurate compensation of the DC-component of the transducer output resulting from spirometer operation at a maintained positive or negative pressure.

In 6 Hautproben von Psoriasis-Herden werden elektronenoptisch nach Kontrastierung mit Uranylacetat und Bleicitrat stark vermehrt Einschluskorper im Nucleoplasma von Bindegewebszellen nachgewiesen. Diese Spharidien enthalten Glycogen und Lipoide. Die Befunde, die fur eine Aktivierung des Bindegewebs-Zellstoffwechsels sprechen, werden im Zusammenhang mit den bereits vorhandenen Hinweisen auf eine Beteiligung des Bindegewebes, vielleicht im Sinne einer “unspezifischen Mesenchymreaktion”, bei der Psoriasis erortert.

Granulocytenfunktionsdefekte bei granulomat�ser muco-cutaner candidiasis

Es wird uber einen 12jahrigen Jungen mit einer rezidivierenden mucocutanen Candidiasis berichtet, der an einer Cryptococcose verstarb. Bei diesem Kind wurden Defekte der unspezifischen Immunitat in Form eines Chemotaxis- und Phagocytosedefizits der polymorphkernigen Neutrophilen nachgewiesen, wahrend Immunglobuline und Komplementfaktoren sowie insbesondere die lymphocytenvermittelten Reaktionen im Normbereich lagen. Die Heterogenitat hinsichtlich der Atiopathogenese der granulomatosen muco-cutanen Candidiasis machen auch Funktionsprufungen der Granulocytenfunktionen erforderlich, zumal solche Defekte inzwischen mehrfach beobachtet wurden.

Studies on the Content of P 700 and Cytochromes in Sinapis alba During Growth Under Two Different Light Intensities

Sinapis alba was grown under two extremely different light intensities. We obtained two different modifications which hold several physiological and biochemical characteristics comparable to the relations in light- and shade plants. In the strong light the maximum rate of CO2-uptake increases within five days to a three-fold rate. At the same time the content of several redox systems of photosynthetic electron transport increases while the content of P 700 remains equivalent in both types of plants. So zahlt es zur kostenrechnerischen Selbstverstandlichkeit, die Leistungen z. B. einer unternehmenseigenen Vervielfaltigungsstelle grundlich zu kalkulieren und den Leistungsempfangern zu belasten, um die da-durch verursachten Gemeinkosten „genauer“ zu verteilen oder die Nutzung dieser Ressourcen zu beeinflussen.

Zur Bestimmung von Niob- und Zirkoniumspuren in Titandioxid und in Ilmenit werden die Proben mit Borsaure und Natrium-Kaliumcarbonat aufgeschlossen; die Schmelze wird in 8 N HCl gelost und Eisen(III) mit Di-i-propylather ausgeschuttelt. Dann reichert man Niob und Zirkonium gemeinsam durch Ausschutteln mit Tri-n-octylphosphinoxid in Cyclohexan an, entfernt beide Elemente mit wasriger Oxalsaurelosung aus der organischen Phase und bestimmt sie durch Rontgenfluorescenz oder Photometrie mit Sulfochlorphenol S (Nb) bzw. Arsenazo III (Zr).

Effect of Physical Training on Enzyme Activities of Bones, Tendons and Skeletal Muscles in Mice

According to several recent papers the activity of some enzymes of energy yielding metabolic pathways increases by endurance training in muscles, but it is not yet known whether similar changes occur also in connective tissues. Some structural, chemical, physical and metabolic changes, however, appear in connective tissues during adaptation to physical exercise. Physical training produces hypertrophy of e.g. tendon and articular cartilage in young rabbits [6] and increases the tensile strength of tendons and breaking strength of bones in growing mice [7].
