Infrared and M�SSBAUER spectroscopic studies on complexes of Hal2SnIV moieties with tridentate ligands

Novel complexes hal2Sntrid, where hal Cl, Br, and trid2− are dianions of „planar” tridentate ligands with ONO and SNO donor basic atoms, were synthesized and structurally investigated in the solid state mainly by far infrared and MOSSBAUER spectroscopy. Possible configurations were advanced and discussed, and it was concluded that the most probable is a monomeric trigonal bipyramidal structure for all compounds, although polymers, or dimers with O or Cl bridges, were not a priori excluded, in a special way for Br2Sntrid. 1. Isolated rabbit hearts were perfused with a modified Tyrode solution containing noradrenaline in concentrations increasing stepwise from 5.9 nM to 5.9 μM at 5 min intervals. This dose regime was applied twice before and once 20 min after starting perfusion with one of 9 tricyclic drugs. Ventricular rate and right atrial and ventricular tensions were recorded using the transverse method. 2. Methode zur Bestimmung der Bleomycin-inaktivierenden Enzymaktivit�t in Geweben

Gewebe enthalten ein Enzym, das Bleomycin (BLM) inaktiviert. Die Enzymaktivitat ist in Extrakten aus verschiedenen Geweben unterschiedlich hoch. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird eine Methode zur Bestimmung der BLM-inaktivierenden Enzymaktivitat aus Organen und Geweben von Mausen beschrieben. Diese BLM-inaktivierende Enzymaktivitat ist in Extrakten aus Leber am hochsten, Hoden, Milz, Lunge und Gehirn weisen geringere Aktivitaten auf; in Hautgewebe fehlt dieses Enzym fast vollig.

The photosynthetic rate of Sinapis alba can be modified over a wide range by the light intensity during growth. Our present results indicate that there exist regulatory mechanisms in the field of photosynthetic primary reactions. We compared the effect of different light intensities during growth of Sinapis plants on the concentrations of soluble proteins, manganese and lipophilic plastid quinones, the electron flow from water to ferricyanide and noncyclic phosphorylation. We further determined the light dependence curves for the uncoupled electron transport with ferricyanide as electron acceptor and methylammonium-chloride as an uncoupler of photophosphorylation.

Es wird die Synthese der drei isomeren 3-(Pyridylmethyl)- und 3-(Piperidylmethyl)-5-hydroxyindole beschrieben. Die 3-(Pyridilmethyl)-5-benzyloxyindole wurden durch Kondensation von 5-Benzyloxyindolylmagnesiumbromid mit den drei isomeren Chlormethyl-pyridinbasen dargestellt. Katalytische Reduktion ihrer quartaren Salze fuhrte zu den entsprechenden Piperidinverbindungen. Bei der Psoriasis sind Veranderungen im Dehydroepiandrosteron-(DHEA-) Stoffwechsel nachweisbar, die als genetisch fixierte Basisstorungen unter bestimmten Bedingungen die Grundlage fur die Auspragung der manifesten Psoriasis darstellen konnen. Sie sind gekennzeichnet durch eine verminderte Penetration von DHEA durch die Zellmembran sowie eine verstarkte Reduktion von DHEA zu Androstendiol (ADIOL) und damit einem erhohten Quotienten DHEA/ADIOL.

Das Referat diskutiert die funktionelle Organisation des Geruchs- und Geschmackssinnes unter morphologischen, physiologischen, biochemischen und verhaltensphysiologischen Gesichtspunkten. Wahrend der Geruchssinn vorwiegend bei der Futtersuche zur Fernorientierung benutzt wird, dient der Geschmackssinn als ein letztes qualitatives Uberwachungssystem der Nahrungsaufnahme am Beginn des Verdauungskanales. Treatment with phenoxybenzamine of upper urinary tract complications caused by intravesical obstruction.

Five children in whom reflux and progressive hydronephrosis persisted despite multiple surgical attempts or repair are described. In all cases cystomanometry displayed a marked elevation of the bladder outlet resistance combined with high intravesical pressure values. Therapy with phenoxybenzamine, an alpha-adrenergic blocker, was successful in all cases, restoring a free urine passage of the upper urinary tract and unimpaired voiding preventing urinary diversion which has been considered in some of these children. Although there were no signs of bladder neuropathy, a hyperfunction of the sympathetic innervation as acause for bladder complications is discussed.

Im Jahre 1940 pragte Apitz den Begriff des Paraproteins. Damit sollte betont werden, das es sich um ein abnormes, normalerweise im Blut nicht vorkommendes Protein handelt. Kunkel konnte 1951 erstmals den Nachweis fur die engen Beziehungen zwischen den polyklonalen Immunglobulinen und den sog. Paraproteinen erbringen. Antisera gegen Paraproteine wurden von Seren normaler Pro banden vollstandig absorbiert. Auch die grundlegenden Arbeiten von Edelman u. Porter bewiesen die enge Verwandtschaft zwischen den „normalen“ Immunglobulinen und den Paraproteinen.
Organotin(IV) azido and mixed azidothiocyanato complex anions; A Mössbauer and vibrational spectroscopic study

Abstract Tetraphenylarsonium and tetramethylammonium salts of the complex anions Ph 3 Sn(N 3 ) − 2 , Ph 3 Sn(N 3 )(NCS) − , Me 2 Sn(N 3 ) 2− 4 and Ph 2 Sn(N 3 ) 2 (NCS) 2− 2 have been synthesized, and the solid state configuration of the complex anions has been studied by Mossbauer and vibrational spectroscopies. Trigonal bipyramidal structures are advanced for the Ph 3 Sn IV derivatives, with equatorial SnC 3 and apical pseudohalide ligands, while the R 2 Sn IV compounds are assumed to be trans -octahedral species. The NCS − ligands are observed to be N-bonded to Sn IV . Conductance and PMR (for the Me 2 Sn IV compound) data suggest the presence of the complex anions also in solution phase…
