Xylit, Stoffwechsel und klinische Verwendung

Der Organismus vermag grose Mengen an Xylit umzusetzen. Da sein Stoffwechsel unabhangig von Insulin ist, Xylit denselben Susungsgrad und Geschmack wie Saccharose hat und die diabetischen Stoffwechselstorungen, insbesondere im Bereich des Fettstoffwechsels beheben kann, ist er als Zuckeraustauschstoff in der Diatetik fur den Diabetiker gut geeignet. Gegenuber dem Sorbit besitzt er hier Vorteile, da seine Vertraglichkeit und Utilisation besser sind. Xylit hat in der posttraumatischen Katabolie eine anabole Wirkung und ist daher im Rahmen der Infusionstherapie und parenteralen Ernahrung von grosem Nutzen.

Technique and value of gas and pantopaque cisternography in the diagnosis of cerebello-pontine angle tumours

The techniques of gas and Pantopaque cisternography are described, as well as the various advantages and disadventages of these methods. Patients without neurological signs in whom a small tumour is suspected in the region of the cerebellopontine angle should be examined with Pantopaque. The examination can be carried out as an outpatient procedure. If definite neurological signs are present, gas cisternography is preferable in order to demonstrate secondary displacements of the ventricular system as well as the tumour itself.

Es wird die Wirkungsweise des C¯1-Inaktivators (I1) gegenuber C¯1 und dem C4 umsetzenden Protein der Euglobulinfraktion (I4) beschrieben. Zum Nachweis der C¯1-Aktivitat wurden vier Nachweismoglichkeiten herangezogen: Die Titration der hamolytischen Wirkung, die Beurteilung des Umsatzes von C4 und C2, sowie die esterolytische Aktivitat gegenuber TAMe. Alle vier Aktivitaten des C¯1 werden durch I1 gehemmt. Daraus ist zu schliesen, das C¯1 eine einheitliche Wirkung ausubt. Diese wird in den Testsystemen in verschiedener Form nachweisbar. AbstractGlacier brooks in Northern Scandinavia have been investigated for the occurrence of chironomid larvae and pupae. In the uppermost zone of glacier brooks with a very narrow temperature amplitude, Diamesa lindrothi is the most abundant species. In a lower zone with a wide diurnal temperature amplitude during summer months, the simuliid Prosimulium macropyga is more abundant, along with other species of Diamesa. Lacking any primary organic production, the diptera larvae living here feed on particles drifted up on the glacier surface, conserved there and released into the glacier brook by the melting of the ice. Dicumylhyponitrit (1a), substituierte Dicumylhyponitrite (1b1f) (p-Br, p-Cl, p-CH3, m-CH3, p-CH3O), Bis-[1.1-diphenyl-athyl]-hyponitrit (1h) und Bis-[1.1-dimethyl-pentyl]-hyponitrit (1g) wurden dargestellt. Die tertiaren Hyponitrite zerfallen bereits rasch bei-40 in Stickstoff und freie Alkoxyradikale, die dann zu den entsprechenden Alkoholen und Ketonen weiter reagieren. Spectrophotofluorometric characterization of adriamycin a new antitumour drug

Summary Adriamycin, a new antitumour drug structurally similar to daunomycin, shows evident spectrophotofluorometric characteristics. A technique previously employed by Kohn for tetracyclines is proposed by the present workers for the identification and estimation of adriamycin in tissues. Furthermore, a transformation of the molecule was revealed in some organs, using the same technique.

Promazine and chlorpromazine were taken as lipophilic drugs, which were compared in some experiments with 3,3′-dimethyl-4,4′-diacetyldiphenylbisguanylhydrazone (BG 60), a much more hydrophilic drug.

Es wird eine quantitative Nachweismethode fur den C¯1-Inaktivator (I1) aus Meerschweinchenserum beschrieben. Diese beruht auf der Fahigkeit von I1, C¯1 in gebundener Form zu inaktivieren. Es wird eine Reinigungsmethode beschrieben, nach der das I1-Protein 1800fach gegenuber Serum gereinigt werden kann. Das gereinigte Praparat zeigt eine Bande in der analytischen Polyacrylamid-Elektrophorese. I1 hat ein Molekulargewicht von ca. 170000 und eine Sedimentationskonstante von ca. 6,1; durch Erhitzen auf 60° C, durch einen pH-Wert unter 6,0 bzw. uber 8,0 und durch Behandlung mit Ather, Chloroform und Benzol ist die I1-Aktivitat zu inaktivieren. Abstract A simple d E d x+E type semiconductor detector telescope electron spectrometer featuring high detection efficiency and effective discrimination against γ-rays and heavy particles is described. The line shape of the spectrometer is better than that of a single detector of corresponding size; at 1 MeV, the peak-to-total ratio is approximately 0.8. The device is suited to the study of beta-ray spectra and conversion electron lines at energies above about 0.4 MeV.

The wave propagation in helium II bounded by two plane-parallel plates forming a narrow channel is considered. The theory is based on the complete linearized set of the Khalatnikov equations. These equations are exactly averaged over the width of the channel taking into account the boundary conditions and symmetry relations. It is shown that in narrow channels three solutions of these equations exist; (a) fourth sound, (b) the so-called fifth-wave mode, and (c) another wave mode, which is very strongly damped. Electrons were trapped in an electrostatic quadrupole trap with superimposed homogeneous magnetic field. The electrons were polarized by spin exchange with a polarized atomic beam. The free trapped electron polarization was converted to a change in the electron translational energy via spin-dependent inelastic collisions with the atomic beam, and the electron translational temperature was monitored. Isolation and Characterization of Epidermal DNA and RNA from Guinea Pig Skin

DNA and RNA were isolated from mammalian epidermis in a relatively small scale procedure. The high purity and native state of the DNA isolated is reflected by its molar absorptivity E (P), its thermal hyperchromicity and its hyperchromicity upon DNase treatment and by its sedimentation profile as well as by its profile in a cesium chloride density gradient. The very low content of protein and RNA, as well as the data of DNA determination, indicate that this method permits the isolation of a highly purified product.
