Literature and medicine are closely connected. Many works that portray experiences of disease have been set in health care facilities, including sanatoriums. Anti-tuberculosis sanatoriums, seen as spaces of isolation and as «death row» have inspired many authors. Twentieth-century novels devoted significant attention to these institutions which, kept far from the rest of society, conditioned both the life and the identity of the sick. The magic mountain by Thomas Mann and Rest home by Camilo José Cela are two outstanding references among these productions. In Catalan literature, El mar (The sea in its English language translation) by Majorcan author Blai Bonet must also be highlighted.

Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) is a material having some properties superior to ordinary concrete, such as strength and durability. Production ofUHPC often includes large amount of cement, leading to high cost and environmental footprint. Investigation of the elastic and inelastic scattering of 4He from 11B in the energy range 29-50.5 MeV

We have measured the angular distributions for the elastic and inelastic scattering of 4He from 11B in the isochronous cyclotron U-150 M INP RK. The extracted α-particles beam has been accelerated to energy 29 MeV and then directed to 11B target. The experimental results were analyzed within the framework of both the optical model using different complex potential and the double folding potential obtained with different density-dependent NN interactions which give the corresponding values of the nuclear incompressibility K in the Hartree-Fock calculation of nuclear matter.

We argue that resources provided by IS may be combined and reproduced by appropriating them for different purposes than the design purposes of the IS. Testbed evaluation of optimized REACT over multi-hop paths

REACT is a distributed resource allocation protocol that computes a max-min allocation of airtime for mesh networks. The allocation adapts automatically to changes in local traffic load and in local network views. SALT, a new contention window tuning algorithm, ensures that each node secures the airtime allocated to it by REACT. REACT and SALT are extended to the multi-hop flow scenario with the introduction of a new airtime reservation algorithm. With a reservation in place, multi-hop TCP flows show increased throughput when running over SALT and REACT compared to running over 802.11 DCF. All results are obtained from experimentation on the w-iLab.t wireless network testbed in Belgium.
