Three sets of monoclonal antibodies against bradykinin (MBK1, MBK2, MBK3) were generated by somatic cell fusion, characterized by their peptide specificity and compared to the known ligand specificity of the kinin receptor subtypes. By these criteria the paratope of MBK3 resembled the B2 receptor binding site whereas MBK1 shared principal binding characteristics with the B1 recrptor. Ocular Penetration of Topically Applied Norfloxacin 0.3% in the Rabbits and in Humans

The kinetics of topically applied norfloxacin 0.3 percent were studied in rabbit and man. All measurements were performed by high-pressure liquid chromatography. Norfloxacin concentrations were investigated five to 120 minutes in rabbit ocular tissues after instillation of a single drop. In normal eyes, after 30 minutes, mean +/- SEM levels were 14.3 +/- 3.7 micrograms/g in cornea, 3.3 +/- 0.7 micrograms/g in conjunctiva, 0.2 +/- 0.1 microgram/g in aqueous humor. After removal of the corneal epithelium concentrations were as follows: 84.2 +/- 15.8 micrograms/g, 7.3 +/- 2.3 micrograms/g, 8.6 +/- 1.9 micrograms/g respectively. Contact sensitivity to oxazolone in the chicken: evidence for Arthus type hypersensitivity of the cutaneous reaction.

Cutaneous hypersensitivity reaction can be induced in chickens by skin painting with oxazolone, 33 mg/Kg of body weight (KBW). The B cell contribution to the generation of the cutaneous reaction has been a matter of controversy. In an attempt to characterize this reaction we placed special interest on the possibility that the nature of this reaction could be Arthus type hypersensitivity. From the kinetics study on the cutaneous hypersensitivity after challenge with oxazolonated egg-albumin (EA-OX) it was excluded that the nature of this reaction could be delayed type hypersensitivity. Nuestro objetivo en el presente estudio es profundizar un poco más en tales relaciones. Urea as a thinning agent in olive: The influence of concentration and time of application

Urea was tested as chemical thinner on olive cv. Nocellara del Belice using three concentrations (2, 4 and 6%) applied at full bloom (FB), FB + 10 and FB + 20 days. Urea reduced fruit set significantly only when applied at FB + 20 days, the fruitlet stage. Final fruit set was reduced by about 50% compared with the untreated control (6% FB + 20 days). Crop load and fruit characteristics were both affected by the treatments.

We updated meta-analysis and critical descriptive analysis of randomized clinical trials (RCTs) assessing the value of beta-blockers in preventing first bleeding (prophylactic) or rebleeding (therapeutic) and on survival of patients with cirrhosis. Both the methods of Peto-Mantel-Haenszel and DerSimonian-Laird were used to assess the heterogeneity and obtain cumulative estimates of treatment effects; the L'Abbé plot was also used for a visual assessment of heterogeneity in the direction of treatment effect. Se presenta una nueva técnica de reconstrucción de las lesiones crónicas del ligamento cruzado anterior (LCA) en sus dos fascículos. Se estudian 30 paciente s intervenidos con un promedio de seguimiento de 19 meses. Se utiliza hueso-tendón patelar-hueso (H-T-H) reforzado con una malla de poliéste r en doble fascículo. El H-T-H, reforzado con la malla de poliéster, pasa a través de una tunelización isométrica tibial anteromedial y una tunelización isométrica femoral posterosuperior , mientras que el resto de la malla de poliéste r pasa over-the-top al interior de la articulación para anclarse en un punt o tibial posterolateral. Amplification of ETS2 oncogene in acute nonlymphoblastic leukemia with t(6;21;18).

Cytogenetic and molecular studies in a case of acute nonlymphoblastic leukemia (ANLL) are reported in this paper. Bone marrow blasts carried a hypodiploid karyotype with a complex t(6;18;21)(6qter----6p21::21q22----21qter;18qter ----18p11::6p22----6pter; 21pter----21q22::6p21----6p22::18p11----18pte r) and other numerical and structural changes. We studied the organization and the expression of the ETS2 gene which is located on chromosome 21 in order to investigate its possible involvement in the disease. DNA analysis showed a 20-fold amplification of ETS2 sequences; an increase of 3- to 4-fold in the mRNAs level compared to normal was shown by Northern hybridization.

Abstract Lacitol, C 12 H 24 O 11 , is monoclinic, space group P 2 1 with cell dimensions a = 7.614(1), b = 10.757(1), c = 9.370(1) A, β = 108.19(1)°, and V = 729.0(1) A 3 ; Z = 2, D x = 1.57 Mg.m −3 , λ(Cu- K α ) = 1.5406 A, μ = 1.166 mm −1 , F (000) = 368, and T = 23°. The structure was solved by direct methods and refined by least-squares calculations to R = 0.048 for 1510 unique observed reflections. There are one intra- and eight inter-molecular hydrogen bonds in the structure. Bond lengths and angles accord well with the mean values of related structures. The galactopyranosyl ring has a chair conformation.
