Resume Au Nord de Leon (Guanajuato), la discordanced'un horizon carbonate neritique sur un substratum volcano-sedimentaire tectonise materialise une phase tectonique majeure dans la cordillere ouest mexicaine. L'âge albien superieur de ce temoin recifal est etabli par une petite faune d'Ammonites appartenant aux genres Eohypoturrilites, Pseudouhligella, Salaziceras et Eutrephoceras, et des Terebratules du genre Moutonithyris. La position de ce gisement montre l'extension vers l'ouest des facies carbonates connus sur la plate-forme est mexicaine.

Patterns of cytokeratin and vimentin expression in the human eye

We studied the expression of the various cytokeratin (CK) polypeptides and vimentin in tissues of the human eye by applying immunocytochemical procedures using a panel of monoclonal antibodies as well as by performing biochemical analyses of microdissected tissues. Adult corneal epithelium was found to contain significant amounts of the cornea-specific CKs nos. 3 and 12 as well as CK no. 5, and several additional minor CK components. A review of the subcapital fracture of the hip treated with partial prothesis (Monk's prothesis) from 1979 to 1983 is reported. A clinical evaluation, using the Merle-D' Aubigne's and Harris' methods and carrying out radiographic study after the surgery and during the follow-up is analised. The best results were obtained in: - Patients older than 70 years of age. - Prothesis with longstem and metallic cup with adequate size. - Good support at the calcar. - Voss' + effect.

Influence of inelastic couplings on 32S + 24MG sub-barrier fusion

Elastic, inelastic and mutual excitation angular distributions have been measured for 32S+ 24Mg at 65, 75, 56.3, 95 and 110 MeV of 32S incident energy. The data have been analysed by optical model and coupled channel calculations. Energy-dependent optical potentials have been obtained which have been used to describe the 32S + 24Mg fusion data of Berkowitz et al2). Barrier penetration and coupled channel models are compared. It is found that the energy-dependence of the empirical potentials is essential if a consistent simultaneous description of elastic, inelastic an fusion data is required.

A generalized transitive closure for relational queries

We augment relational algebra with a generalized transitive closure operator that allows for the efficient evaluation of a subclass of recursive queries. The operator is based on a composition operator which is as general as possible when the operator is required to be associative and when only relational algebra operators are used in its definition. Elongational behavior of low density/linear low density polyethylenes

Rheological data have been collected in isothermal elongational flow for three different types of blends, made from one low density polyethylene and three linear low density samples. In addition to the transient curves, elongation at break data are also reported. The influence of the composition and of the molecular weight of the linear low density polyethylene is discussed.

To characterize such a situation, we introduce the concept of a "natural constraint", which is presented and discussed is section 1 of the present paper. Section 2 is concerned with the efficient estimation of the naturally constrained reduced form. Abstract. Studies from another laboratory have shown that several strains of laboratory mice have a genetic defect for melatonin synthesis. In non-deficient species, melatonin synthesis undergoes a typical, β-adrenergically regulated day/night rhythm with low melatonin levels during daytime and high levels at night, the precursor serotonin showing an inverse behaviour. This study examines whether a day/night rhythm of pineal serotonin levels exists in melatonin-deficient male BALB/c mice. Lack of "Synaptic" Ribbons in the Pineal Gland of BALB/c Mice

In mammalian pinealocytes "synaptic" ribbons (SR) are regularly occurring organelles that are functionally poorly understood. Since in a number of studies on the mouse pineal gland the presence of SR has not been mentioned, it was the aim of this investigation to quantitate SR in mice. BALB/c mice were chosen, which have recently been shown to have a genetic defect for melatonin synthesis. The pineals of 15 mice killed at night, when SR numbers are normally high, were examined electron microscopically, scanning an area of greater than 20,000 micron 2 per gland. Abstract The study examines the predictability of international terrorism in terms of the existence of trends, seasonality, and periodicity of terrorist events. The data base used was the RAND Corporation's Chronology of International Terrorism. It contains the attributes of every case of international terrorism from 1968 to 1986 (n = 5,589).
