INTRODUCTION: We aimed to evaluate the trajectory of two surrogates of fluid overload -antigen carbohydrate 125 (CA125) and amino-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP)- after the addition of oral empagliflozin to usual care in a cohort of patients with chronic heart failure (CHF) and type 2 diabetes (T2D). METHODS AND RESULTS: From October 2015 to February 2019, 60 ambulatory patients with CHF and T2D were retrospectively included. In Studies 1a and 1b, we observed that the modulation of the activation induced by odors influenced temporal information processing by speeding-up or slowing-down the rate of the internal clock pacemaker, similarly to what was previously reported using musicalstimuli. The work describes anatomical analysis of the wood from a relict Pinus sylvestris L. performed to determine its characteristics. Transverse ca. 20 μm thick sections were prepared with a core-microtome and observed in bright-field microscopy. Observations of tangential sections were performed in epi-fluorescence. The xylem of the relict pine showed many narrow growth rings. The occurrence of i.a. discontinuous tree rings, light rings and intraannual density fluctuations was stated. Pressure-dependent modifications in the optical and electronic properties of Fe(IO3)3: the role of Fe 3d and I 5p lone–pair electrons

We have determined by means of optical-absorption experiments that Fe(IO3)3 is an indirect band-gap material with a band-gap energy of 2.1 eV. This makes this compound the iodate with the smallest band gap. We also found that under compression the band-gap energy has an unusual non-linear pressure dependence, which is followed by an abrupt and discontinuous decrease of the band gap at 24 GPa. The observed behavior is explained by means of density-functional calculations, which show that the behavior of the band gap is governed by the combined influence of Fe 4d and I 5p lone pair electrons. Pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot vai starp sociālo trauksmi un interoceptīvo izpratni pastāv pozitīvas saistības. Lai to noskaidrotu, pētījumā piedalījās 156 dalībnieki vecumā no 18 līdz 60 gadiem (M = 29.06; SD = 10,29) no kuriem sievietes n = 129 (82.7%) un vīrieši n = 27 (17.3%), kas aizpildīja divas anketas – Sociālās trauksmes anketu un Interoceptīvās izpratnes daudzdimensionālās novērtēšanas anketu.
