Gauge-invariant 3-gluon vertex in QCD

By resumming the Feynman graphs which contribute to any gauge-invariant process we explicitly construct, at one-loop order, a three-gluon vertex for QCD which is completely independent of the choice of gauge. This vertex satisfies a Ward identity of the type encountered in ghost-free gauges, relating the vertex to the proper self-energy of a previously constructed gluon propagator, also found by resumming graphs; like the vertex, this self-energy is completely gauge invariant. A close scrutiny of the relationship between geometric constraints and motion in a system of water molecules allows the prediction of a role of solvent dynamics in the solvent-mediated interaction between two solutes and between different parts of one solute. Antiepileptic actions of the organic calcium antagonists flunarizine (cinnarizine derivate) and verapamil (papaverin derivat) on pentylenetetrazol-induced epileptic bioelectric activity were tested in CA3 neurones of hippocampal slices. Abstract This work analyses the correlation between Angstrom and Linke atmospheric turbidity parameters (β and T ) which are commonly used in studies about the atmosphere's behaviour since they efficaciously monitor a point turbidity state and model the aerosol attenuation of solar radiation. Starting from the usual linear relation β = a + bT , a more reliable one is here derived by hourly data of three coastal locations with typical Mediterranean meteoclimatic characteristics, for values of the experimental ratios of diffuse and global solar radiation ⩽0.3. The expression found notably differs from the starting one as shown by the time variable.

Activation of the classical pathway of complement involves several binding and enzymatic cleavage processes. Binding and enzymatic activation results in the appearance of new structures in the individual components. This report describes the different activation steps for C1q, C1r, C1s, C4 and C2 and summarizes monoclonal antibodies reported so far which recognize either conserved epitopes or activation-dependent epitopes with particular emphasis on neoepitopes occurring during the activation cascade.

Gerade bei multipel voroperierten Patienten (sog. Hypo- bzw. Epispadie-Kruppeln) ist der Fistelverschlus aufgrund der lokalen Hautverhaltnisse oft problematisch. In solchen Fallen haben wir seit 1981 den Einsatz eines freien Tunica vaginalis-Interponates beim Fistelverschlus erprobt. Noninvasive blood pressure monitoring evaluation of verapamil slow-release 240-mg antihypertensive effectiveness

The aim of our study was to evaluate the antihypertensive effectiveness of verapamil slow-release (SR), administered once a day. We studied 11 patients, 7 male and 4 female, with an average age of 53.6 +/- 12.86 years, who had essential hypertension. After a drug washout period of at least 15 days, placebo was administered (one tablet per day), and then patients received verapamil SR 240 mg/day at 8:00 a.m. for at least 2 weeks. The human major histocompatibility (HLA) complex is located on the short arm of chromosome 6 in the 6p21.31→6p21.33 region (1,2). There are three clusters of genes, the HLA class I, II, and III regions. Abstract The photolysis of the 7-acetoxybenzopyran derivatives 1a-5a has been carried out. Chromene 1a was found to undergo extensive photopolymerization. Chromanone 2a underwent a rather inefficient photo-Fries rearrangement to the 6 - and 8 - acetyl derivatives 2b and 2c . Diacetoxychromene 3a gave the unsaturated ketone 8 as the main product, besides its deacetylation analogue 9 and chromanone 11 . Diacetoxychroman 4a afforded a mixture of four C-acetyl products: 1b, 1c, 2b and 2c , together with Chromene 1a and chromanone 2a. Las indicaciones quirúrgicas de los piés planos flexibles son muy escasas. Para los autores representa solamente un 2, l % de los casos tratados por ellos. Las técnicas quirúrgicas que han empicado son las de GREEN-GRICE, la de VILADOT, operación de MILLER y por último la de ALBANESE-NATIELLO modificada. Cada una de estas técnicas tiene sus indicaciones. Han valorado nuestros casos clínica y radiográficamente mediante los parámetros: dolor, valgo de talón y corrección del arco longitudinal interno. A new formulation of the exponential power distributions is used as general error model to describe long-tailed and short -tailed distributed errors. The proposed estimators of the location, scale and structure parameters of this general model and of the simple linear regression parameters when the response variable is affected by errors coming from the previous model should be used instead of robust estimators and against the practice of rejecting outlying observations. Two Monte Carlo simulations prove the good properties of these norm-p estimators.

Biopsy specimens of 66 medulloblastomas were investigated by means of S-antigen and rod-opsin immunocytochemistry. The patients were operated between 1969 and 1988 and the medical records were retrospectively evaluated to correlate the immunocytochemical features of the tumors to the course of the disease. S-antigen- and rod-opsin-immunoreactive tumor cells were found in 19 out of 66 cases. By the use of light microscopic immunohistochemistry, epidermal Merkel cells have been examined for the coexistence of some neuropeptides and chromogranin A (CGA). Peptide and CGA-immunophenotypes were similar in adult Merkel cells but variable in fetal skin, where CGA preceded the expression of peptides which were partly expressed only in a subpopulation of Merkel cells from hair follicles. Iron uptake mechanisms were investigated in different species of Salmonella isolated from environmental waters. All strains examined were able to grow in the presence of high concentrations (10 mM) of the iron chelator EDDA. All strains excreted phenolate and hydroxamate siderophores, as assessed by bioassays and chemical tests. Bioassays with different indicator strains showed that all Salmonella strains can cross-feed other Enterobacteria, as well as mutants of Salmonella typhimurium deficient in the Enterobactin system, suggesting that this siderophore may be produced by the environmental Salmonella strains. Interrelationship Among Morphology, Metabolism, and Proliferation of Tumor Cells in Monolayer and Spheroid Culture

Previous investigations have indicated a positive correlation between the proliferative and metabolic activities of tumor cells in monolayer culture (Freyer et al., 1984; Freyer and Sutherland, 1985; Walenta and Mueller-Klieser, 1987). On the other hand, no difference in the local oxygen consumption has been found between highly proliferating outer cell areas and non-proliferating inner cellular regions in multicellular tumor spheroids (Mueller-Klieser, 1984, 1987). Therefore, the interrelationship among metabolism, proliferation, and cellular morphology was investigated systematically in tumor cells both in monolayer and spheroid culture.

175 wegen einer infantilen hypertrophischen Pylorusstenose (IHPS) behandelte Patienten wurden 17–25 Jahre nach konservativer (n = 68) bzw. oeprativer (n = 112) Behandlung nachuntersucht. Bei den operativ behandelten Patienten war die Krankenhausaufenthaltsdauer signifikant kurzer. Sowohl nach konservativer als auch nach operativer Therapie der IHPS konnten keine Storungen der Magenmotorik auf Dauer nachgewiesen werden: Symptome einer verzogerten Magenentleerung sowie Ulcera ventriculi bzw. duodeni und verzogerte Magenentleerungsgeschwindigkeiten, welche szintigraphisch fur feste und flussige Nahrung gemessen wurden, fanden sich in beiden Gruppen im Vergleich zu einem Kontrollkollektiv nicht.
