Cukura diabēts ir viena no visizplatītākajām slimībām pasaulē, kuras apmēri strauji turpina augt. Eiropā ar diabētu slimo vairāk kā 60 miljoni cilvēku, savukārt Latvijā 2016. gadā slimnieku skaits sasniedza gandrīz 90 000 cilvēku. Otrā tipa diabēts ir populārākais diabēta tips, skarot 90-95% slimnieku. Balstoties uz neseniem pētījumiem, ir pierādīts, ka efektīva atveseļošanās metode ir intervālu treniņi. This study evaluated the effect of three different silanes and post-silanization treatments on the retentive strength of fiber posts luted with an etch-and-rinse resin cement. One hundred intact maxillary central incisors were randomly divided into 10 groups after endodontic treatment and post space preparation (n=10). The fiber posts were etched using 24% hydrogen peroxide. Posts of the control group did not receive silane. Mesenchymal progenitor cells (MPCs) have been hypothesized as cells of origin for sarcomas, and c-Fos transcription factor has been showed to act as an oncogene in bone tumors. In this study, we show c-Fos is present in most sarcomas with chondral phenotype, while multiple other genes are related to c-Fos expression pattern. To further define the role of c-Fos in sarcomagenesis, we expressed it in primary human MPCs (hMPCs), immortalized hMPCs and transformed murine MPCs (mMPCs). Fishing for G-quadruplexes in solution with a perylene diimide derivative labeled with biotins

A new fluorescent, non‐cytotoxic perylene diimide derivative with two biotins at the peri position, PDI2B, has been synthesized. This molecule is able to interact selectively with G‐quadruplexes with scarce or no affinity towards single‐ or double‐stranded DNA. These features have made it possible to design a simple, effective, safe, cheap, and selective method for fishing G‐quadruplex structures in solution by use of PDI2B and streptavidin coated magnetic beads. The new cyclic method reported leads to the recovery of more than 80 % of G‐quadruplex structures from solution, even in the presence of an excess of single‐stranded or duplex DNA as competitors. We evaluated the effectiveness of influenza vaccination on preventing admissions to hospital for influenza and reducing disease severity.
