Abstract The title compound (EtO)2P(O)CH2Si(Me)2CH2SnMe2Cl (2) has been synthesized by reaction of the new functional Grignard reagent (EtO)2P(O)CH2CH2SiMe2CH2MgCl with Me3SnCl and subsequent treatment with Me2SnCl2. 2 crystallizes in the non-centrosymmetric orthorhombic space group P212121. The structure was refined to a final R-value of 0.0476. The tin atom is pentacoordinated and exhibits a nearly ideal trigonal-bipyramidal coordination (SnCl 2.518(3), Sn ⋯ O 2.371(5) A). This coordination results from a 6-membered chelate involving a chair conformation. The effects of collisional relaxation processes on the Q-branch profile of major species present in combustions have been studied by high resolution stimulated Raman spectroscopy. Particular interest has focused on the following collisional systems: N2-N2, O2-O2, CO2-CO2, O2-N2, N2-CO2 and N2-H2O. For each colliding pair, starting from accurate determinations of line broadening coefficients over a wide temperature range, state-to-state rates for rotational energy transfers have been deduced by using various fitting laws. Measurements of mean lifetime and branching fractions of b hadrons decaying to J/ψ

From a data sample of 450 000 hadronic events recorded with the ALEPH detector at LEP, 92 +/- 10 events are observed containing a J/psi meson decaying to mu+mu- or e+e-. From these data the measured inclusive branching fraction for a b flavoured hadron to decay to a J/psi is BR(b --> J/psiX) = (1.21 +/- 0.13 (stat.) +/- 0.08 (syst.))%, and the average b hadron lifetime in the events tagged with a J/psi is tau(b) = 1.35(-0.17)+0.19 +/- 0.05 ps. Five events are observed consistent with the exclusive decay B+/- --> J/psiK+/- and from these events the exclusive branching fraction is measured to be BR(B+/- --> J/psiK+/-) = (0.22 +/- 0.10 +/- 0.02)%. Andean Cenozoic volcanic centers reflect basement isotopic domains

Isotopic data for Quaternary volcanic centers from lat 17.5° to 22°S in northern Chile provide evidence for crustal contributions to arc magma genesis in the central Andes and delineate basement domains. Crustal thickness, distance from trench, height of volcanic edifices above the seismically active subduction zone, and sediment supply to the trench are all constant along this segment of the arc. The only significant variable is crustal age (Paleozoic in the south, Proterozoic in the north). Abstract We here report the results of cytogenetic studies carried out in eight patients with acute nonlymphocytic leukemia developed after primary neoplasias. In seven of the reported cases, clonal chromosome aberrations were found, some being specific of de novo acute nonlymphocytic leukemia (ANLL). The Experimental Program of the MAMI-Project

At Mainz university, a 100% duty-factor electron accelerator for beam current and energy up to 100 µA and 855 MeV,respectively, has become operational recently, the Mainz Microtron MAMI. The experimental program is based on three major equipments which are built up and will be run by three facility-oriented collaborations. Collaboration A1 is centered around a magnetic spectrometer setup and will do experiments with virtual photons. For experiments with real photons collaboration A2 runs a high-efficiency tagger. Collaboration A3 sets up a polarized electron source in order to exploit the polarization degrees of freedom.

Reproductive success of Coregonus species in areas loaded by effluents from paper mills

The annual reproductive success of Coregonus albula and C. lavaretus in some polluted and clean areas of the central parts of L. Paijanne was estimated in 1981–90 on the basis of occurrence of larvae in shore seine and seine net samples after the ice melted. In polluted areas (0-5 km from Kaipola paper mill) larvae of coregonids were found only occasionally. In semipolluted areas (5–15 km from the paper mill) the densities of larvae were usually less than 0.1 ind m-2. In ‘clean’ areas the mean densities of larvae ranged from 0.45 to 5.34 inds m-2. Longtemps considéré comme le certificat de l'excellence ouvrière, le certificat d'aptitudes professionnelles a connu une impressionnante diminution d'effectifs en formation initiale ces dernières années. Le constat et la problèmatique développés par Lucie Tanguy dans son rapport "Quelles formations pour les ouvriers et les employés en France ?" nous ont amenés à tenter d'identifier le sens de la formation conduisant au CAP entre 1959 et 1992. Les causes de la dévalorisation de ce diplôme tant scolaires qu'économiques et sociales sont inventoriées. Des perspectives d'évolution sont tracées. Une analyse partielle des conditions de la réussite de cette évolution est proposée.

Abstract The fractal nature of porous silica gels, Spherosil XOA 200 and of a Lichrospher mixture, has been tested through size exclusion chromatography of polystyrene in pure and mixed eluents. Fractal parameters, D f and L , depend on eluent with D f values close to 2.0 for Spherosil and higher than 2.0 for Lichrospher. D f and L changes with eluent have been related to secondary separation effects and partition and adsorption contributions have been evaluated.

A recombinant polypeptide corresponding to a virus-specific cDNA clone (c100-3) serves as the antigen for a hepatitis C virus (HCV) antibody assay. Previous investigations have shown an 80% prevalence of HCV antibodies in sera of patients suffering from post-transfusional chronic hepatitis non-A, non-B, but positive results were also obtained for 30 to 70% of sera from patients with chronic hepatitis B or autoimmune hepatitis. Resume Les comparaisons morphologiques et statistiques faites entre la palichnofaune de vertebres du Permien provencal et celle du bassin de Lodeve permettent de conclure a l’existence d’associations semblables. L’etude paleontologique montre la presence d’Eosuchiens, de Captorhinomorphes ou de Procolophonoides, de Pelycosauriens et, peut-etre, de Therapsides, vivant dans des environnements de plaine d’inondation, de lacs ou de marecages.
