Die analytischen Bedingungen fur die Bestimmung des Co und Ni in einigen Biomaterialien und ihrer Lipidfraktion werden beschrieben. Die Storung durch Vanadium bei der adsorptions-voltammetrischen Bestimmung der beiden Elemente konnen durch geeignete Durchfuhrung des Aufschlusses vermieden werden. In allen Proben finden sich 1,3–4,5% des Gesamt-Nickels und 2,5–15,7% des Gesamt-Cobalts in der Lipidfraktion. Von einigen anderen bestimmten Schwermetallen (Cu, Pb, Cd, Zn) konnten nur Pb, Cd und Mn in der Lipidfraktion festgestellt werden.

Shock phenomena in baryonless strongly interacting matter.

Shock phenomena associated with the quark-to-hadron matter phase transition are studied using the concept of adiabats. To allow for an analysis of a medium with vanishing baryon density, the shock and Poisson adiabats are formulated in terms of hydrodynamic fluxes, rather than only thermodynamic variables. The bag-model equation of state is used to describe the phase transition. It is shown that deflagrations from the quark phase above the critical temperature and strong detonations from the supercooled quark phase to the superheated hadron phase are unlikely. Resume Las succession detaillee des peuplements d'ammonites recoltes dans le Sinemurien superieur (Lotharingien) du Langenegggrat est presentee ici. Ces faunes, qui se repartissent en 5 associations stratigraphiquement distinctes, appartiennent a la partie superieure de la zone a Oxynotum et a la zone a Raricostatum. L'une de ces associations est particulierement originale; elle caracterise la base de la sous-zone a Macdonnelli et est largement dominee par Paltechioceras boehmi. Chemical heterogeneity of amyloid in the carpal tunnel syndrome

140 biopsies from 108 patients afflicted with the carpal tunnel syndrome were studied, 27 of whom showed deposition of amyloid, in 6 of them to such an extent that the amyloid was considered significant in the pathogenesis of the carpal tunnel syndrome. Morphologically, vessels and ligaments were affected and especially the peritendinous structures. As it was always part of generalized amyloidosis, the amyloid in the carpal tunnel consisted immunohistologically of amyloid A in three cases (including one case with simultaneous amyloid deposition of the AA- and the AB-type), of amyloid A kappa in one case, of amyloid of prealbumin origin in seventeen cases and of AB-amyloid in eight cases. Los linfomas constituyen, en general, un grupo de tumores que se originan primariamente en el tejido linfático y su carácter maligno se demuestra por la capacidad de invadir todos los sistemas orgánicos, motivo por el cual,se adjetivizan como linfomas malignos. Uno de los avances más importantes en los últimos 20 años, ha sido el separar por un lado el linfogranuloma de Hodgkin y por otro los linfomas no hodgkinianos. Los linfomas no hodgkinianos representan un grupo heterogéneo de neoplasias que se originan a partir de células de estirpe linfática y cuyo estudio anatomopatológico no revela la existencia de células gigantes de Reed-Sternberg ni su contexto histológico granulomatoso.

En la tradición de los estudios de vanguardia, la historiografía ha privilegiado los movimientos radicales (futurismo, dadaísmo) o los de larga herencia (superrealismo). Sin embargo, otros han sido recogidos a partir de autores y lejos de buscar una síntesis. L'any 1985, en unes obres il.legals d'extracció de terres, a la partida de la Font Seca, entre la carretera de Vilafamés i el Cami dels Romans, aparegueren dos mil.1iaris que foren brutalment trencats per la màquina. El lloc exacte de la troballa està situat a la vora dreta de l'antiga Via Augusta, en sentit cap a Saguntum, a 25 m. al NW d'un altre mil.liari incomplet que es conserva aparentment in situ a l'altra banda del camí. Les obres posaren al descobert també un llarg tram del mur exterior de la vía, conservat per sota del marge actual del camí. En l'actualitat es conserven en el mateix lloc de la troballa, a l'espera del seu pròxim trasllat al museu de la Pobla Tornesa.

Phenolic and acetylenic metabolites from Artemisia assoana

Abstract Nine flavones, three coumarins, two flavone glycosides, p-hydroxyacetophenone and methyl caffeate have been isolated from the aerial parts of Artemisia assoana. Six diacetylenic spiroketal enol-ethers, a mixture of n-alkyl p-coumarates and a new phenylpropanoid metabolite, sinapyl alcohol diisovalerate, have been isolated from root extracts of the same plant. 1H and 13C NMR spectra of some of these compounds are given and taxonomic aspects are discussed.

The aothors report on podograme ( «foot print») in 109 children of 3 to 9 years of age taken from a school popolation of 489 children. They are divided into different groops of 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9 years of age. The aothors conclode that at the age of 4 there is a higher possibility for a pes planos ( «flatfoot») to appear, and at 5 years of age in the case of girls. Those children affected with pes cavos happen to be taller than they shoold actoally be. The pes planos' podogram di~appear at the age of 7. The pes cavos' podograme still remain. The pes planos' podograme in those onder the age of 7 shoold not mean a compolsory medica! treatment at all.

The Relevance of Kneading and Extrusion Parameters in the Manufacture of Active Porous Aluminas from Pseudoboehmites

In order to study the effect-on crushing strength, attrition resistance, specific pore volume, and pore volume distribution of extrudates-of kneading and extrusion parameters in the manufacture of active porous aluminas, a commercial pseudoboehmite (Pural SB from Condea Chemie, Brunsbuttel, FRG) was employed. A minimum kneading torque was required to prepare an extrudable paste, predetermined by extrusion conditions. The torque had an upper limit with respect to certain extrudate properties. Axonal pathology of the skin in infantile neuroaxonal dystrophy.

Ultrastructural studies on the skin of two patients affected by infantile neuroaxonal dystrophy (INAD) were performed to evaluate its diagnostic value and to discuss the etiology of INAD. While the majority of terminal axons around intradermal glands were dystophic consisting of tubulomembranous and tubulovesicular profiles sometimes accompanied by synaptic vesicles, there were only few dystophic axons inside intradermal nerve bundles. These observations suggest that the primary lesion of INAD is located in terminal and presynaptic axons. Therefore, terminal axons have to be investigated when a diagnostic skin biopsy is performed in INAD.

The effects of various free fatty acids, lysophosphatides and phospholipase treatments on the enzymatic and the non-enzymatic lipid peroxidation capacities in the heart homogenates and subcellular fractions were studied. The results showed a dose related inhibition of both the enzymatic and non-enzymatic lipid peroxidation with free fatty acids. A significant inhibition occurred as early as at the concentration of 25–50 μM of several fatty acids both in homogenates and in organelle fractions. In general, the inhibition was greatest with cis-unsaturated, long-chain fatty acids.
